In Kipo & the Age of Wonderbeasts, sentient mutant animals - 'mutes' - roam the surface of the world, while humans have retreated to burrows underground. Season 3 of the series premiered on Netflix on October 12, and focuses on Kipo and her friends' efforts to unite the humans and mutes of Las Vistas against Dr. Emilia and her mute cure. It's going to take everything in Kipo's power to reconcile the city's various mute factions and bring harmony to the surface.

Kipo & the Age of Wonderbeasts presents an apocalyptic landscape full of wonder and fun, and much of that fun comes from meeting new packs of mutes every episode. Each faction has its own unique styles and customs, as well as their own territory. With every new mute group Kipo meets, the viewer gains a better understanding of the surface world and becomes more immersed in the show.

To celebrate the final season of Kipo & the Age of Wonderbeastshere is a guide to every major mute faction Kipo encounters throughout the series.

Chevre Sisters

Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts Chevre Sisters

Bev, Florabel, and Ida are blind goat mutes who tell the future by making cheese. They live deep in the Eyeball Woods and, unlike many mute factions, don't have a vendetta against humans. They take in Lio and baby Kipo when they flee from their first burrow and later teach Kipo how to enter and exit her megajaguar form. The Chevre Sisters' ability to accurately tell the future through their cheese is the closest thing Kipo & the Age of Wonderbeasts has to magic.

Dubstep Bees

Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts Dubstep Bees

Surprisingly not the only bees causing a buzz on Netflix, these bee mutes communicate through flashing lights and dubstep music, making them one of several mute factions to whom music is important. If someone is stung by the Dubstep Bees' queen, they become infected with dance fever and will dance themselves to death unless the queen cures them. In season 3, Kipo asks the Dubstep Bees for help building a protective wall of death ivy, since they're the only mutes immune to it.

Fitness Raccoons

Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts Fitness Raccoons

Relentlessly positive and clad in 1980s activewear, Fitness Raccoons live in the Las Vistas dump. They spend their days lifting, doing aerobics, and practicing yoga. Fitness Raccoons name themselves after the trash around them, resulting in names like Label and Carton. Despite their energy and fitness, the Fitness Raccoons are too scared to go to the surface, as they keep getting attacked by a mega pigeon. Kipo and her friends help the Fitness Raccoons defend themselves against the pigeon in season 1, episode 8, "Twin Beaks," which helps boost the Fitness Raccoons' confidence and solidifies their friendship with Kipo.

Humming Bombers

Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts Humming Bombers

Armed with explosive nectar, the Humming Bombers rule the skies above Las Vistas. The music when they first appear in season 1 sounds a lot like Kenny Loggins's "Danger Zone" from Top Gun in an homage to their similarities to fighter pilots. The humming bombers chase Kipo and her friends throughout the first two seasons, but in season 3 they decide to join her in order to get protection from Dr. Emilia.

Mod Frogs

Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts Mod Frogs

These large frogs give new meaning to the phrase "dressed to kill." They always look sharp in their tailored suits, even when they're attempting to capture Kipo throughout season 1. Mod Frogs take their cues from both mob culture and the mod subculture of the 1960s, so they care deeply about both appearances and organized crime. When a Mod Frog is kicked out of the pack, their tie is cut in half. This happens to the frog Jamack when he fails to catch Kipo. Despite everything, Kipo befriends Jamack and tries to help him. Jamack is the only Mod Frog in season 3, as the others were encased in gold by Scarlemagne.

Newton Wolves

Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts Newton Wolves

This pack of mute wolves hunts for knowledge about the universe in the Las Vistas Observatory, which is based on Los Angeles's Griffith Observatory. Dressed in turtlenecks and jackets, the Newton Wolves present their astronomical findings through raps and are eager to share their knowledge with fellow scholars. Kipo and her friends find themselves on the wolves' bad side when they try to use their telescope in Kipo & the Age of Wonderbeasts season 1, episode 5, "The Astronomers in Turtlenecks," but in season 3 the wolves decide to join Kipo's human-mute alliance.

Scooter Skunks

Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts Scooter Skunks

Scooter Skunks are nomadic mutes who roam the streets and rivers of Las Vistas. They appear either on scooters or on jetskis, which they power using their skunk gas. Like other mute factions, Scooter Skunks have a distinctive sense of style, choosing to dress like a classic biker gang. In season 3, Kipo learns that Scooter Skunks only allow outsiders to travel through their territory if they can beat the skunks in a scooter race.

TheaOtters

Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts TheaOtters

Introduced in Kipo & the Age of Wonderbeasts season 2, episode 3, "The Ballad of Brunchington Beach," the TheaOtters are theater-loving otters who travel Las Vistas and perform for the public. Kipo meets the TheaOtters as they rehearse a play about her encounter with the Newton Wolves. She and her friends disguise themselves as members of the troupe for a performance. The play the TheaOtters produce in season 2 is incredibly anti-human, but season 3 opens with them performing a new play about how Kipo can help mutes, proving just how effective Kipo is at winning these factions over.

Timbercats

Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts Timbercats

Cross a lumberjack with a cat to get a Timbercat, these are hands down the best cats on Netflix besides the ones in Tiger King. These plaid-wearing, axe-wielding cats live in a massive village in the Las Vistas forest. Timbercats' axes double as guitars - they love music and songs, especially ones about the accomplishments of their axe lords. When Kipo helps return axe lord Yumyan Hammerpaw to the village, the Timbercats befriend her and pledge to help her return home. In seasons 2 and 3, they agree to shelter Kipo and her friends from enemies.

Umlaut Snakes

Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts Umlaut Snakes

The Umlaut Snakes are hard rocking snakes who live in Cactus Town in the Las Vistas desert and play guitar with their tongues. When not rocking out, they enjoy complete and total silence, and they will fight anyone, mute or human, who ruins that peace. Kipo and the Timbercats get into a fight with the Umlaut Snakes on their way through Cactus Town, but Kipo's guitar playing gets them to listen. The Umlaut Snakes enjoy her sound so much that they agree to help her find her people.
