Meet the Statesmen in the brand new TV trailer for Kingsman: The Golden Circle. The star-studded sequel to Matthew Vaughn’s bombastic bloodbath Kingsman: The Secret Service is slated for a late September release and will expand the world of suave clandestine organizations in a major way.

Channing Tatum joins the fray as Agent Tequila, a cowboy-hat-sporting American agent who works for Statesman, the USA’s equivalent to the eponymous Kingsman crew. And although Tatum’s character poster describes him as ‘a token American’, he’s not the only Yank in the cast. Jeff Bridges plays Agent Champagne, Halle Berry is portraying a character named Ginger, and Julianne Moore is Poppy (a villainess described as ‘Martha Stewart on crack’). Pedro Pascal – The Viper from Game Of Thrones – is also playing a Statesman.

You can get to know these guys and gals by watching the new Kingsman 2 TV trailer which offers a load of action, and a fun little scene in which Taron Egerton’s Eggsy describes his day job – well, the cover story version, at least - to a member of British royalty.

With the new Kingsman 2 trailer came a chunky synopsis, which hammers home the point that “these two elite secret organizations” will have to “band together to defeat a ruthless common enemy, in order to save the world”. If the first film and Comic-Con footage are anything to go by, this exploration of Anglo-American relations should make for some incredible action sequences and scintillating witty banter.

However, it’s hard to ignore the fact that all the American agents are named after types of booze (Pascal’s character is called Jack Daniels) and they seem to be kitted out in very stereotypical costumes, perhaps as part of their team's traditions not unlike the Kingsman take their inspiration from the Knights of the Roundtable.

If you just can’t wait to get a taste of Statesman, you’re in luck: there’s a tie-in bourbon whiskey on the way. There are also more trailers, an Archer crossover video, and stacks of posters to pore over. When you’re done with all that, you can ponder the mysterious comeback that Colin Firth is making. And here’s a fun fact or you: apparently The Golden Circle will end in an ‘unpredictable’ way, in order to tee up a sequel. Should be a fun ride!
