Channing Tatum's Agent Tequila gets a cool introduction in a new clip from the secret agent action sequel Kingsman: The Golden Circle. Matthew Vaughn returns to direct from a script by himself and Jane Goldman, based on the comic book The Secret Service.
The 2014 hit Kingsman: The Secret Service introduced us to Kingsman, a super-secret spy agency charged with keeping the world safe from nefarious bad guys and their elaborate plots. In Kingsman: The Golden Circle, our heroes face a whole new, daunting challenge. When Kingsman HQ is blown up and the world falls victim to a villainous scheme by the evil organization the Golden Circle and their wacko leader Poppy (Julianne Moore), Eggsy (Taron Egerton) and the gang must join forces with their American counterparts, The Statesman to take on the new threat and save the world from certain doom.
In a new clip from 20th Century Fox (see above) we're introduced to Channing Tatum's Agent Tequila, described as "the cockiest member of the Statesmen." And cocky Channing Tatum certainly is as he encounters Eggsy and Merlin (Mark Strong) while the two are breaking open a giant barrel of Kentucky bourbon in an apparent attempt to gain entry to the Statesman compound.
Tatum seems unimpressed with the two Kingsman agents even though they just apparently hacked through an advanced biometric security system using only a watch. After a nifty John Wayne rifle trick, Tatum tells the lads to get down on their knees and tell him who they really are. Needless to say, a very rocky beginning for the world-saving team-up between the Kingsman and their cowboy counterparts.
The plot of Kingsman: The Golden Circle is expected to go in "unpredictable emotional directions" but its core will obviously still be the same brand of outrageous action that characterized the original film. The new movie looks like it will mine the contrast between the Very British Kingsman and the Very American Statesman for a lot of its comedic effect. Julianne Moore's performance as Poppy, the leader of the Golden Circle, is said to have been inspired by the Stepford Wives and was called "Martha Stewart on crack" by Moore herself. Audiences have been buzzing about The Golden Circle ahead of its impending release and the movie is expected to be another big hit when it arrives.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle also stars Colin Firth, Halle Berry, Sir Elton John and Jeff Bridges.
