A new The King's Man trailer offers a look at the titular organization's ties to World War I and Ralph Fiennes being headbutted by a goat. The third installment in the Kingsman film franchise shifts the lens back to the 1910s as history's worst tyrants and criminal masterminds gather to plot a war to wipe out millions. The film will see the formation of the Kingsman organization, led by the Duke of Oxford and his protégé, in an effort to race against time to stop them.
Ralph Fiennes leads the cast of The King's Man, in addition to executive producing, alongside Gemma Arterton, Rhys Ifans, Mathew Goode, Tom Hollander, Harris Dickinson, Daniel Brühl, Djimon Hounsou and Charles Dance. Matthew Vaughn is once again at the helm, directing a script he co-wrote with Stranger Things alum Karl Gajdusek from a story developed by Vaughn and based on Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons' Kingsman graphic novels. Following numerous release delays due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, The King's Man is currently gearing up for a Christmas theatrical release.
With a month remaining until the film's arrival, 20th Century Studios has debuted a new The King's Man trailer. The video gives a better look at the prequel's villains, the group's connection to the untold events of WWI and the formation of the titular spy agency. Check out the new trailer below:
The new King's Man trailer offers the best look thus far at the villainous trio the titular spies will have to face in the upcoming prequel. While previous marketing has spotlighted Rhys Ifans' eccentric Grigori Rasputin plenty, the new video gives better insight into two of the three characters being played by Pirates of the Caribbean alum Tom Hollander and Daniel Brühl's multihyphenate Erik Jan Hanussen. How the latter figure, who is known in history for being a publicist and a clairvoyant performer, factors in to the plot is currently unknown, but given the Kingsman franchise's reputation for its off-kilter approach to the espionage genre, the Marvel Cinematic Universe star is sure to be a welcome part of the prequel's plot.
The King's Man marks an interesting new chapter in the actions series as it is the first to truly step away from the comics for an original story. While Kingsman: The Golden Circle was technically not based on a storyline in Millar's comics, it still centered on Taron Egerton's Eggsy from the original comic and film The Secret Service and will reportedly return for the in-development fourth installment, Kingsman: The Blue Blood. The wait for The King's Man is nearly over as the film is set to hit theaters on December 22.
