The recent Nintendo Switch listing for Kingdom Come: Deliverance was a mistake, and rumors of its inevitable announcement on the console are unfounded. Kingdom Come: Deliverance is an open-world RPG with heavy emphasis on a realistic medieval setting, contrasted sharply with more prominent RPGs like Elder Scrolls and The Witcher 3, which rely on a much more fantastical premise. Kingdom Come: Deliverance favors accuracy, but not at the cost of gameplay; its alchemy system, for example, is quite in-depth.

Just yesterday, keen-eyed fans spotted a listing for Kingdom Come: Deliverance Royal Edition on the release index for Nintendo Japan, apparently targeting a Nintendo Switch release. Nothing had been officially announced by the developer, Warhorse Studios, and an in-depth open-world RPG seemed like an unconventional choice for a port to Nintendo's hybrid console. It would have been a welcome one, though; the game was considerably well-received when it released, and even rivaled Skyrim and The Witcher 3 in terms of concurrent player counts, though of course it failed to gather as much staying power as those two high-profile titles.

Unfortunately, it seems that the listing was just another fluke. Earlier today, Warhorse Studios PR Manager Tobi Stolz-Zwilling (via Nintendo Everything) announced that no matter what the listings say, there are no plans to port Kingdom Come: Deliverance to the Switch. Furthermore, Stolz-Zwilling has no idea how the listing got posted in the first place. He was apologetic for the error, and even added a gif of a crying child to channel his own regret over the mistake. Clearly there's at least one person in Warhorse Studios who's interested in a Switch port, so maybe it could happen someday. But it's certainly not happening any time soon.

Nintendo's been making a rather conspicuous amount of listing mistakes recently. Last week the company listed iconic 3D platformer Banjo-Kazooie for the Wii U, of all things. Since the Wii U is a functionally obsolete console that sold terribly even when it was new, this was an outlandish proposition from the start, so it wasn't much of a surprise for most when Nintendo denied the listing and stated in no uncertain terms that the beloved Rare game is not on its way to Wii U.

These mistaken listings are always disappointing for fans of the games in question. Ports like this tend to come with updated graphics and gameplay, and sometimes even new bonus content for dedicated fans. To be teased with a prospect like that only to have it snatched away is depressing. But there are always new games to come, and the recent ESRB rating for LEGO Marvel Super Heroes hasn't been shot down yet. Maybe it'll succeed where Kingdom Come Deliverance didn't.
