After Beavis and Butthead made their return to television screens this summer, it looks like Mike Judge's other hit animated series, King of the Hill, is also making a comeback (though it won't air on FOX). Thirteen years have passed since the original run ended after thirteenth season that introduced many iconic characters in the landmark adult animation series.

It wasn't all jokes, though, and fans grew to love many of the show's romantic and platonic relationships. From friendships between the lovable kids to the numerous romantic relationships, the hit animated series provided some of the best in animation.

Hank Hill and Tilly Garrison

Tilly Hill from King of the Hill

Audiences finally met Tilly Garrison, Hank's mother, in the show's second season. While seen as more adventurous and free-spirited than her son, they do share some truly tender moments that resulted in one of the best relationships in the show.

Throughout it, he puts up with her affectionate behavior at his expense, whether it's driving her and her friends to see some glass figurines or becoming blinded by her passionate chemistry with a boyfriend. In the end, these episodes see Hank embracing her and accepting her quirks, making this one of the more accepting relationships on the show.

Kahn and Minh Souphanousinphone

Kahn from King of the Hill

One of the several characters who debuted in the first season, The Souphanousinphones have become one of the show's best families, providing many iconic scenes that Kahn and Minh have been involved with. And it's their many moments throughout the show that have seen their marriage remain strong after all these years.

They may be rude and brash towards their neighbors, but they support one another as they adapt to their new Texas lives. And they are more than happy to dish the dirt to one another about what their neighbors are up to, which makes them one of the show's most open and humorous pairs.

Bill Dauterive and Governor Ann Richards

Bill from King of the Hill

When it comes to relationships, Bill has never had too much success despite his many attempts. But because of his obliviousness, he found himself in one of the show's surprising friendships.

During the fifth season, Governor Ann Richards guest starred as herself and found that she had more in common with Bill than they could have both predicted. Even when Bill's ex-wife comes into play, he was able to learn from the late Governor and overcome his past relationship while also adoring the time he spent with his newfound friend.

Cotton and G.H. Hill

Cotton and G.H. Hill

Easily one of the rudest yet funniest characters in the show, Cotton didn't have the best relationships with numerous characters, especially when it came to Hank. But that appeared to change when he had a baby son, and he was given a fresh opportunity to have a good relationship with someone.

In the episode 'When Cotton Comes Marching Home,' GH inadvertently helps Cotton realize just how much the two need each other, despite his financial troubles. Knowing just how much the baby impacted his life, he may not be the father of the year, but Cotton does give him love and respect that he rarely gives anyone else.

Jeff Boomhauer and Bill Dauterive

Jeff, Bill, and Hank from King of the Hill

Jeff Boomhauer was always presented as the ladies' man, but in the season six episode 'Dang Ol' Love,' he discovers how his actions have impacted those he had dated or been with. After finding someone to fall in love with, Boomhauer discovers that they have been sleeping with another man, breaking his heart in the process.

While the character does grow, his friendship with the naive Bill grows too. Despite his many losses of love in life, Bill gives him a speech to get him out of his depressive state in a way that no one else was able to. While the two didn't have many moments like this, it did cement how important Bill actually proved to be for Boomhauer in his time of need.

Hank and Ladybird

Ladybird as a puppy from King of the Hill

The Hill family's bloodhound, Ladybird, brings out the affectionate and playful side of Hank in a way that no other character has throughout the show. And it has made some of the funniest scenes, too, as Hank has done some truly ridiculous things.

From entering a dog show and doing a country dance to being there for her in the hopes of having puppies, their relationship has seen Hank behave in a way that no other character has. And without uttering a single word, she can even make Peggy jealous of how much Hank often cares for his dog more than his wife.

Bobby and Connie

Bobbie and Connie from King of the Hill

As Hank's only child, Bobbie is very different from him, showing a softer side that does sometimes see him disappointed by his son's comedic and emotional actions that fans might see as some of his best scenes. But this is not the case with Connie, his neighbor, who often embraces him for who he is.

Between the two and their relationship with their stricter fathers, Bobby and Connie often discuss their family life while also accepting their own personalities. They may go off and on as boyfriend and girlfriend, but they always remained good friends that often become more mature and respectable than most of the other relationships between the adult characters.

Hank and Peggy Hill

Hank and Peggy Hill

Hank may not be the most emotionally open person on the show, but that doesn't stop him from trying to be a great husband. And considering that Peggy tries many times to please everyone around her, it's nice to see that she has been able to get him out of his comfort zone.

There have been countless episodes that have explored this angle, but none more so than in the Thanksgiving episode 'Goodbye, Normal Jeans.' Unaware of how she feels as a homemaker, Hank tries to make things right and makes a thanksgiving dinner for just the two of them, ending with a loving and hugging embrace. And this is also why they are the most likable characters from the series.

Dale and Joseph Gribble

Dale and Joseph from King of the Hill

Easily one of the show's funniest characters, Dale Gribble struck a chord with fans for his conspiracy theories and love for guns, which became the themes for some of the character's best episodes. But he also shares them with his son Joseph, despite seeming impossibly oblivious about who the child's real father may be.

Despite everyone else knowing except for him, Dale and Joseph have some of the best father-son relationships in sitcom history. Sharing their love for many theories, sports, and movies, their connection has grown as Dale helped Joseph become who he was and stuck by him.

Luanne Platter and Lucky Kleinschmidt

Luanne and Lucky from King of the Hill

Easily one of the best relationships in King of the Hill, Luanne finally met a man who accepted and loved her after years of being rejected. She met Lucky, who made his debut in the eighth season, and won over fans for his love for Peggy and Hank's niece.

One of the best examples of their relationship was from the 'Edu-macating Lucky' episode, where he tries to get a GED before proposing to Luanne to prove himself that he is right for her. Doing everything he can to make himself a better man only makes him more attractive in Luanne's eyes.
