Daredevil star Charlie Cox trades one gritty TV drama for another in AMC's Kin, an upcoming series about an Irish gang war. As of this morning, much of the buzz surrounding Cox had to do with his potential role in this December's Spider-Man: No Way Home. Though nothing has been confirmed just yet, reports have suggested Cox's Daredevil will make a cameo in the movie. Whether that is true or not remains to be seen, but the actor has another major project coming up in the next few weeks that will return him to television in a big way.
Kin will premiere next month on AMC+ and center on a brutal gang war that breaks out between two Irish families. The Kinsellas are a tight-knit crime family who find themselves going up against Eamon Cunningham (Ciarán Hinds), a brutal drug kingpin, following the death of a child. Described as a battle between David and Goliath, the 8-part Kin dives headfirst into Dublin's seedy underworld where gangsters are treated like celebrities. It also stars Aidan Gillen of Game of Thrones fame, Clare Dunne, Sam Keeley, Emmett J. Scanlan, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Hannah Adeogun, and newcomer Yasmin Seky.
On Tuesday, AMC unveiled the first trailer for Kin. The minute-and-a-half-long clip dives into the messy war between the Kinsellas and Eamon's empire, and it's clear no one will emerge from it unscathed. The network also confirmed Kin will premiere on AMC+ on September 9, meaning those interested won't have much time left to wait. Check it out below.

Cox is known for his television roles on Boardwalk Empire and Daredevil, so it's very exciting to see him step back into a series regular role. His part as Michael Kinsella looks like it will provide him with some really excellent material. Kin feels like a present day sibling to Peaky Blinders, so fans of that series might do well to check this one out while they wait for season 6. It even features the talents of Gillen, who has a role on Peaky Blinders.
Based on the trailer alone, Kin looks to be a brutal, but compelling look at these fictional crime bosses of Dublin. The clip only hinted at some of the deeper character dynamics at play; it looks like Gillen's Frank Kinsella has an intriguing relationship with Eamon that will be strained by his family's pursuit of justice. Though it so far looks like an AMC+ exclusive, Kin would be a solid fit within the rest of the network's broadcast shows. It'll be interesting to see how this bloody saga plays out.
Kin premieres on AMC+ on September 9.
