Canadian star Simu Liu will return for Kim's Convenience season 5 should the popular CBC Television series get renewed. After getting cast as the lead in Marvel's Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, there was uncertainty about Liu's schedule going forward but he tells us, that's not an issue.

I spoke to Liu a few weeks ago on the phone to talk all things Marvel, TV, Toronto Raptors, singing, comedy, and more and asked if joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe would interfere with plans for more Kim's Convenience.

Simu, ever grateful to his cast and crew that help make Kim's Convenience, says the team there has been so supporting and proud of his upcoming work and are flexible in making both Shang-Chi and Kim's Convenience work together.

Simu Liu: Our producers at Kim’s were very, very good about carving out some time so that I could do both. I can say for sure, if we go to a fifth season, I will definitely be back.

The show has meant a great deal to me. It's given me everything in terms of my immediate opportunities, and even just the experience and tools to be able to walk into that audition for Marvel with the confidence that I could execute the dramatic and the comedic feats.

Our producers on that show are fantastic. And, yeah, I'm very happy to be able to go back.

Liu can do both comedy and drama, and you can add singing to his resume as well, so while we await to see what personality while shine through in his Marvel Studios role under the direction of Destin Daniel Cretton, Kim's Convenience fans can rest easy that the stars exploding fame and work won't affect his role in CBC hit series.

Filming on Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings begins next month in Australia and Simu Liu has been training for a while already to prep for the role, much like the character who's described as having developed "unsurpassed" martial arts skills according to the early synopsis. As for whether he's seen the costume, the Harbin, China born star will only say "no comment."
