Keeping up with the Kardashians alum Kim Kardashian raised eyebrows when she was absent at her alleged boyfriend Pete Davidson's New York Eve show in Miami but the reason for her absence has now been revealed. Since the news of Pete and the SKIMS founder's relationship came about, fans have anticipated more of their public appearances and PDAs. The two celebrities, who sparked up relationship rumors after sharing a kiss during a skit on Kim's Saturday Night Live debut, have remained top in the tabloid headlines after making several public romantic appearances.
Kim and Pete appear to have no care in the world as they keep enjoying good moments in each other's company. Kim's family also seems pleased with the pair's relationship. Back in November 2021, Pete took to social media to share a photo from his star-studded pajama-themed birthday party. The snap featured Kim and her mother Kris Jenner, as they posed with rap icon Flava Flav. But while fans and families are pleased with the business mogul and Pete's romance, her estranged husband and rapper Kanye West has not hidden his displeasure about their relationship.
Kim and Pete have notably spent much time together in recent times. Hence, it was a surprise that they didn't spend New Year's Eve together, especially as Pete was co-hosting an NYE special alongside Miley Cyrus and invited Kim to join him. However, the real reason she could not attend the show has been revealed. A source told HollywoodLife that Kim didn't show up in Miami for Pete's for a good reason. The source said Kim was on the fence about going to Miami because she really wanted to be with Pete as she knew how much the gig meant to him. The source explained "He [Pete] had asked her [to go to Miami] when they spent Christmas together in LA. But when she contacted Kanye [West] to ask if he would be available to watch the kids, Kanye said he wouldn’t be."
Kim was unsure about Kanye's plans at the time but took his word at face value and decided to stay at home with her and the rapper's four children, North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm West. The source explained, "Kim knew that one of them needed to be there with their kids on New Year’s Eve because they made a pact to always have one of them there with the children on holidays. Because Kanye said he had plans, Kim cancelled any tentative plans she had to go [to Miami] on the 31st. Kim always puts her kids first no matter what." However, once Kim discovered that her estranged husband was hosting a party in Miami, she began to question his motives. Also, Kim believes she is being honest, straightforward, and pure in her attentions while Kanye is playing games. Hence, the reality TV star can't wait until their divorce is finalized.
It is quite sad that fans did not get the chance to see Kim and Pete together and potentially share a kiss on NYE. Once again, Kanye proved to be a stumbling block in his estranged wife's relationship with her new beau. The rapper has spent so much time trying to get Kim back despite her remaining hellbent on a divorce. Lately, Kanye seems to be moving on from Kim as he is reportedly in a relationship with actress Julia Fox. One can only hope that he eventually lets Kim go so that fans can finally see much more of the Keeping Up With The Kardashians alum and Pete without his interference.
