Kim Kardashian from Keeping Up With The Kardashians and her estranged husband Kanye West met up earlier this week amid their divorce. The couple announced their divorce in February after four children and seven years of marriage. Fans, who often referred to the duo as "Kimye," weren't so shocked by the split earlier this year following the drama from 2020. Last summer, speculation of divorce began to circulate following Kanye's presidential election rallies.
The rapper revealed some personal family information, such as him originally wanting to get an abortion when he found out Kim was pregnant with their first child, North. Kanye then took to Twitter, where he blasted his now ex-wife and her mother, Kris Jenner, for putting out a statement without his approval. Kim still wanted to work on their marriage, so she visited Kanye in Wyoming, where he was recording his current album, Donda. However, she reached her breaking point towards the end of 2020, when divorce rumors seemed more real than ever.
TMZ spotted the estranged couple out and about on Thursday having a lunch date in Malibu. The get-together is the first time Kim and Kanye have been seen together in public since Kim filed for divorce in February. Nonetheless, it is another sign that they continue to have an amicable relationship. The duo grabbed lunch together with security in tow, and it appeared they were trying to keep their meeting on the down-low. Even though they were trying to keep the hang-out a secret, the fact that they are spending time together at all in the middle of a divorce is a good sign for their co-parenting relationship.
Despite no longer being together, the reality star is still supporting her ex in his musical endeavors. Kim and their four children have been supporting the release of Kanye's upcoming tenth studio album, Donda. Kim attended both of his listening events in Atlanta with her younger sister Khloé Kardashian by her side. Despite already flying out to the East Coast for the first listening party, Kim wanted to support the father of her children during a special time in his career. Plus, Kim wants her kids to see their father in his element as a successful musician. Even though Kim and Kanye are no longer married, she credits him for helping her become the confident woman she is today.
The lunch Kim and Kanye attended this week prove the former couple is working on maintaining a friendship together. Despite all the hardships they have been through the former Keeping Up With The Kardashian star still has. a lot of love for the father of their children. Hopefully, they are able to main this friendship for the sake of the kids.
