The official trailer and first-look images have been revealed for the upcoming Peacock series Killing It. Peacock, which is NBC's house streaming service, provides users with a combination of classic series from the network including The Office and Parks and Recreation, premium VOD movie releases like Halloween Kills and The Boss Baby: Family Business, and original shows. Although many of the series have failed to capture the cultural conversation, including the recently canceled Da Vinci Code spinoff The Lost Symbol, their new original comedies have been performing well, including the music industry satire Girls5eva and the high school sitcom reboot Saved by the Bell. NBCUniversal and Comcast are reportedly $1.7 billion in the red because of Peacock, but their plan to make up for it by pouring more money into content creation is clearly still going strong.

Their newest impending series, Killing It, comes from Dan Goor and Luke Del Tredici, the co-creator and producer of Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Although that series was originally created by Fox, the network canceled it after season 5, when it was picked up by NBC to run for 3 more seasons before airing its finale in 2021. Although the series had run its course, NBC clearly wants to hold onto the creators and harness more of the magic that made that series such a fan favorite. Killing It is set to premiere on Peacock in April 2022.

Today, Peacock released the official trailer and several first-look images for Killing It. The trailer is narrated by Craig Robinson's character, describing the long and harrowing journey of how he rose from a lowly security guard to an enormously wealthy man relaxing at a beachside mansion in a culturally inappropriate kimono, which will be the overall arc of the series. His grandiose pronouncements are undercut when it is revealed that he is telling this story to a nervous maid who didn't actually realize he was talking to her. The images don't reveal as much about the details of the plot as the trailer, but they do reveal a closer look at the characters who will populate this "only in America" story. Killing It star Craig Robinson previously appeared on the hit NBC series The Office, as well as being a recurring guest star on Brooklyn Nine-Nine. He will star alongside Claudia O'Doherty (Netflix's Love), Rell Battle (Superior Donuts), Scott MacArthur (The Righteous Gemstones), Stephanie Nogueras (Unfriended: Dark Web), Wyatt Walter (NCIS: New Orleans), Jet Miller (Young Dylan), and Lily Sullivan (I Think You Should Leave). Killing It is set to have a ten-episode first season.

Killing It will attempt to lambast America's love affair with entrepreneurship, wealth, and capitalism. From the looks of the trailer, it's going to be comedic, but a much more bitter and sardonic show than Brooklyn Nine-Nine before it. It might fail to capture the fans who loved that series for its big heart, but it's still got a strong enough performance at the center to find its own way and perhaps lure more subscribers to the struggling streaming service.
