Here's everything we know about Killing Eve season 4, including the release date, episodes, cast, and story. Under the guidance of showrunner Suzanne Heathcote (Fear the Walking Dead), Killing Eve season 3 blew up the series' status quo but closed on a hopeful note for the would-be lovers, ex-MI6 analyst Eve Polastri (Sandra Oh) and Villanelle (Jodie Comer), the world's most dangerously alluring Russian assassin. Following the drama-packed Killing Eve season 3 finale, the anticipation for Killing Eve season 4 couldn't be higher.

Picking up months after the conclusion of Killing Eve season 2, season 3 kept Eve and Villanelle apart for nearly the entire 8-episode run. While Eve investigated the death of Kenny Stowton (Sean Delaney), Villanelle was reunited with her ex-mentor Dasha Durzan (Harriet Walter), and she went back to work for the secret international organization known as The Twelve, which will likely want revenge on Jodie Comer's character in Killing Eve season 4. However, Killing Eve season 3 saw the deeply unhappy Villanelle undergo a path of self-realization and reflection that revealed her origin in Russia and culminated with Villanelle deciding she no longer wanted to be The Twelve's top killer. Meanwhile, Carolyn Martens (Fiona Shaw) grieved the death of her son Kenny while Konstantin Vasiliev (Kim Bodnia) plotted his own escape from the clutches of The Twelve.

Killing Eve season 3 was, at times, erratic, with its major plotlines dangling until everything converged in the final two episodes. But after the turbulent events of season 3's ending, Killing Eve, like Villanelle herself, seems poised to reinvent itself in season 4. As the BBC America series wraps up its thrilling story, here's everything we know so far about Killing Eve season 4's release date, episodes, cast, and plot.

Killing Eve Has Been Renewed For Season 4

BBC America renewed Killing Eve for season 4 in January 2020, ahead of Killing Eve season 3's release. Following the show's tradition that every season has a new female head writer, Laura Neal (Sex Education) will take over from Suzanne Heathcote. They follow Killing Eve season 1's showrunner Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag) and Emerald Fennell (Promising Young Woman), who was Killing Eve season 2's head scribe. Neal also wrote episodes of Killing Eve season 3 and co-wrote the finale with Heathcote, which will assure a smooth transition into Killing Eve's season 4 episodes. Sadly, Killing Eve season 4 will also be the show's final installment.

Killing Eve Season 4 Release Date

Villanelle and Eve confront one another in the kitchen in Killing Eve

Due to production delays from the COVID-19 pandemic, Killing Eve season 4's release date won't align with the pattern for Killing Eve's first three seasons. The series was set to begin filming in 2020, but production for Killing Eve's season 4 episodes didn't begin until June 2021. Instead of Killing Eve's typical April debut, Killing Eve season 4's release date is February 27, 2022 on BBC America. Killing Eve season 4's eight episodes will premiere weekly, and will be available on both BBC America and BBC iPlayer upon release. Following Killing Eve's season 4 premiere on February 27, the eight episodes will conclude with the series finale in April 2022.

Who Will Be The Cast Of Killing Eve Season 4

Killing Eve's Carolyn as played by Fiona Shaw

Killing Eve season 4 has confirmed that the series' two stars, Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh, will reprise their roles as Villanelle and Eve, respectively. Fiona Shaw, who has portrayed the head of the Russia Section at M16 Carolyn Martens in all seasons, is also set to return in Killing Eve season 4's cast after winning an award for her performance on the series. Kim Bodnia's Konstantin Vasiliev will return as Konstantin Vasiliev, Villanelle's case handler, thus maintaining Killing Eve's core four characters. Meanwhile, it's possible Camille Cottin will be back in Killing Eve season 4 as Helene, one of the leaders of The Twelve, since she has unfinished business with Villanelle.

A big question mark is whether Owen McDonnell will return in Killing Eve season 4's episodes as Eve's husband Niko Polastri, or if the events of Killing Eve season 3 wrote him out of the series. Killing Eve traditionally kills off or writes out each season's supporting characters, and Killing Eve season 3 said goodbye to Harriet Walter as Dasha Druzan, Gemma Whelan as Geraldine, Raj Bajaj as Mo Jafari, Alexandra Roach as Rhian, Steve Pemberton as Paul Bradwell, and Sean Delaney as Kenny Stowton. As such, it's highly unlikely any of the deceased characters will appear in Killing Eve season 4.

What Will Killing Eve Season 4's Story Be About

Killing Eve Finale 3 Villanelle Jodie Comer Carolyn Fiona Shaw

Killing Eve's season 3 finale left off with Villanelle and Eve at a point of reconciliation, but it also left big questions about what will happen in Killing Eve season 4's episodes. After Villanelle murdered her own mother Tatiana, Jodie Comer's Killing Eve character realized she no longer wants to be an assassin, so she quit The Twelve. Meanwhile, Eve's marriage to Niko seems to be definitively over after he miraculously survived an assassination attempt by Dasha. Ahead of Killing Eve season 4's release, Carolyn lost Kenny and resolved there is no way to beat The Twelve while Konstantin went on the run and fled to Cuba, presumably with his daughter Irina (Yuli Lagodinsky).

After all of that mayhem, Villanelle and Konstantin are now enemies of The Twelve and are in perpetual danger, which will inevitably be addressed in Killing Eve season 4's premiere episode. However, after spending most of season 3 apart, Killing Eve's spy Villanelle and Eve realized they can't walk away from each other either. But season 3 drastically altered the series' paradigm, so there are numerous directions that Killing Eve season 4's episodes can take to close out the series.
