What To Expect From Killing Eve Season 3

Killing Eve - Eve and Villanelle

Warning: SPOILERS ahead for Killing Eve season 2

Killing Eve season 2 has come to an end with another cliffhanger - but don't worry, season 3 is on the way. BBC America's cat-and-mouse spy thriller was renewed for a third season in April 2019, shortly after the season 2 premiere, and Killing Eve season 3 is expected to arrive in 2020.

Developed for TV by Phoebe Waller-Bridge and based on the Codename Villanelle novels by Luke Jennings, Killing Eve stars Sandra Oh as Eve Polastri, an MI6 agent who develops a twisted relationship with the assassin she is hunting, Villanelle (Jodie Comer). Villanelle is flamboyant and psychopathic, with no pity for her victims, but she becomes infatuated with Eve - even more so after the season 1 finale, in which Eve tracked Villanelle to her apartment and stabbed her in the stomach.

Villanelle got a chance to return the favor in Killing Eve's season 2 finale, which left Eve lying among Roman ruins after being shot by the Russian assassin. Did the show finally live up to its title, is there some trickery going on (a bulletproof vest perhaps), or will Killing Eve season 3 be about Eve's recovery from the shooting?

Killing Eve Has Been Renewed For Season 3

Killing Eve was renewed for season 3 on April 8, with AMC announcing that Suzanne Heathcote will take over from Emerald Fennell as the series' showrunner. Killing Eve has so far changed showrunners for every season, with Waller-Bridge overseeing season 1 before Fennell took over for season 2. Sally Woodward Gentle, Lee Morris, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Gina Mingacci, Damon Thomas, and Sandra Oh will be executive producers for season 3, and will be joined by new addition Jeff Melvoin.

Killing Eve season 3 doesn't have a confirmed release date, but we can fairly safely assume that it will return to AMC and BBC America in April 2020 with another eight episodes. Killing Eve season 1 premiered on April 8, 2018, and season 2 premiered on April 7, 2019. Unless the show moves from its Sunday night slot, Killing Eve season 3 will most likely premiere on April 5, 2020.
