Uma Thurman's daughter Maya Hawke addresses the long-gestating casting rumors surrounding a potential Kill Bill 3. An electrifying mashup encompassing the kung fu, Western, and blaxploitation genres, Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill was released in two volumes over 2003 and 2004 and starred Uma Thurman as Beatrix "The Bride" Kiddo. Considered the deadliest woman in the world, the Bride vows to kill the entire squad of assassins that aided in an attempt on her life led by her former partner and mentor, Bill. Tarantino and Thurman originated the character of the Bride when working on Pulp Fiction and continued to closely collaborate on the story, with "Q & U" uniquely showing up as a story credit at the end of Kill Bill: Volume 2.

Though he always envisioned it as one four-hour movie spread over two volumes, Tarantino remains open to the idea of a Kill Bill 3. The acclaimed auteur briefly commented on the possibility in October 2021, which would be even more tantalizing considering it could end up being Tarantino's 10th and final film. Over the summer, the director candidly said it "would be f--king exciting" to cast Maya, the daughter of Thurman and Ethan Hawke, in Kill Bill 3, potentially as the grown-up version of the Bride's daughter BB seen in the climax of Kill Bill: Volume 2.

Maya Hawke responded to the casting rumors while promoting her latest film Mainstream in a new interview with The Guardian. The 23-year-old actress, who Tarantino cast as a young Manson Family member in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, explained that, while she'd love to work with him again, Tarantino has earned the freedom at this point to pursue whatever project he desires. Read Hawke's comments on Kill Bill 3 below:

There are always rumours about that. Quentin is on his own darn schedule. He’ll do what he wants when he damn well wants. But I’ve known him my whole life and if he ever wanted to work with me again, of course I would love to.

Maya Hawke in Fear Street

In addition to Mainstream and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Hawke has racked up an impressive collection of credits over the last few years. Her breakout role as Robin in Stranger Things season 3 showcased her strong comedic potential and even proved inspiring for some fans of the show. She revisited the nostalgic horror sandbox in Netflix's recent film Fear Street Part One: 1994, where she played the bookstore employee Heather.

Hawke's résumé clearly indicates she enjoys participating in genre movies, a unique and malleable Hollywood niche that Tarantino has almost singlehandedly revolutionized over the last 30 years. Even though the director said he hasn't even begun thinking about his next movie, speculating on what it might be has become film fans' favorite activity since Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. What audiences do know for sure is that it will carry the same weight and anticipation all of his movies have carried before, whether it's Kill Bill 3 or a different venture.
