Prime Video's Kids in the Hall series reunites one of sketch comedy's most eccentric troupes, but the Kids haven't been idle since the original CBC show ended. The five members of the group have appeared in several TV shows and movies and put together varied and eclectic filmographies over the years. Here's what every Kids in the Hall Cast member has been up to in the years between the end of their original show in 1995 and the 2022 revival.

The Kids in the Hall sketch troupe formed in Toronto in 1984 and performed on-stage before making the jump to TV with their self-titled special. The Kids in the Hall, which aired on CBC and HBO, developed a reputation for its eccentric humor and gained critical praise and a cult following that has only grown in the decades since due to syndication. While it didn't become a star-making machine like Saturday Night Live, another sketch comedy show produced by Lorne Michaels, the series' success allowed its members to have long careers in the comedy world regardless.

The new Prime Video series is the first official revival of the original Kids in the Hall show, but it's not the first time the troupe has reunited. The five members teamed up for Kids in the Hall: Brain Candy, a 1996 movie, and also for touring stage shows from 2000 to 2008. The group returned to television in 2010 for The Kids in the Hall: Death Comes to Town, a CBC miniseries, and as individual performers, the five members have also been involved in many movies and television shows.

Dave Foley

Foley was tabbed as the Kids in the Hall cast member most likely to become a breakout star, and received leading movie roles including the voice of Flik in early Pixar movie A Bug's Life and the less-successful comedy The Wrong Guy. His best-known role may be Dave Nelson, the everyman station manager in NewsRadio, which ran from 1995-to 1999. While never a ratings hit, NewsRadio was critically beloved and ran for five seasons with Foley in the lead role.

Following the conclusion of NewsRadio, Foley's career suffered, in part due to a protracted court battle with his ex-wife, which prevented him from returning to his native Canada. However, he continued to appear on television and film, including multiple appearances on sitcoms such as Will & Grace, Scrubs, and Hot in Cleveland. He had starring roles on Dr. Ken ad the Canadian sitcom Spun Out. Foley has also continued to perform as a voice actor, including voicing Terri and Terry in the Pixar prequel Monsters University.

Bruce McCulloch

In addition to appearing on-screen, McCullough often served as a writer and director for The Kids in the Hall and continued working on both sides of the camera afterward. As an actor, he has appeared in series such as Workaholics and the Netflix revival of Arrested Development. McCullough also had recurring roles in the Canadian TV series Young Drunk Punk and Twitch City.

McCullough has become an accomplished director and writer, with a resume including five feature films and episodes of comedies such as Schitt's Creek and Trailer Park Boys. He has also released two musical comedy albums and directed the award-winning music video for The Tragically Hip's "My Music at Work." In 2014, McCullough published his memoir Let's Start A Riot: How A Young Drunk Punk Became A Hollywood Dad.

Kevin McDonald

Kevin McDonald from the 2022 Kids in the Hall.

Kevin McDonald played some of the strangest Kids in the Hall recurring characters, from probe-loving aliens to failed horror show host Simon Milligan. After The Kids in the Hall ended, he had guest roles on some of the 1990s' biggest sitcoms, including Friends and Seinfeld, and a recurring role on That 70s Show as Pastor Dave. McDonald also played a parodic take on Harry Potter in Epic Movie and had a starring role in the web series Papillon.

McDonald has also had an extensive career as a voice actor, including voicing Agent Wendell Pleakley in Lilo & Stitch and its accompanying spin-offs and Almighty Tallest Purple on Invader Zim. In 2006, he hosted the CBC special Sketch, featuring a number of up-and-coming sketch comedy troupes. McDonald also created and performed a "one-and-a-half man show," Hammy and the Kids, which dealt with both his time on Kids and his turbulent relationship with his father.

Mark McKinney

Following Kids in the Hall, Mark McKinney appeared on Saturday Night Live and in associated movies, including Superstar (directed by McCullough) and A Night at the Roxbury. He was a full cast member on SNL for two seasons, having previously lent various voices to the show in the late 1980s. He later had a recurring role on Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip as Andy Mackinaw, a writer of an SNL-like sketch show.

McKinney created the acclaimed Canadian series Slings & Arrows, set behind the scenes at a Shakesperean theatre festival, in which he also appeared as Richard Smith-Jones. He also was an executive producer, writer, director, and guest star on another well-regarded Canadian series, Less Than Kind. McKinney's most recognizable role in his prolific career may be as store manager Glenn Sturgis on the NBC sitcom Superstore.

Scott Thompson

Scott Thompson broke barriers as an openly gay comedian, often incorporating pioneering queer themes into his sketches and characters. In the years since The Kids in the Hall, Thompson has reprised his most famous character, the monologuing bartender Buddy Cole, in various venues, including an "autobiography" written by Thompson and Kids in the Hall supporting player Paul Bellini, a one-person show, and multiple appearances on The Colbert Report.

In addition, Thompson has had a number of recurring TV roles, including Brian on The Larry Sanders Show, Grady on The Simpsons, and Jimmy Price on NBC's Hannibal. Thompson published a graphic novel, The Hollow Planet, based on his Kids in the Hall character Danny Husk, and created The Lowest Show on Earth, based on his experience as a victim of a terrorist attack in 2000. Like the other cast members of The Kids in the Hall, Thompson's career has taken some unexpected but fruitful turns before returning to the series that started it all.
