After the success of the original Kick-Ass in 2010, fans have been eagerly anticipating the movie's sequel. Although the original film's violence and vulgar language caused much debate, the sequel promises to be even more risqué and the writer of the comic books even stated a few weeks ago that the sequel would be controversial and that "every horrible scene in the book will be in the film."

Earlier today, however, Kick-Ass star Christopher Mintz-Plasse told us that the second book's most controversial scene would not make it into the Kick-Ass 2 - which is scheduled to start filming a few short weeks. Needless to say, this article contains mild SPOILERS for the Kick-Ass books.

During a Comic-Con 2012 interview, about his upcoming film Paranorman, we asked Mintz-Plasse about Kick-Ass 2. The young actor told us that he's excited for the project which features him becoming "a complete villain." Mintz-Plasse told us that the movie will be "fucked-up" - adding that "It's very brutal. Very dark."

But he later noted that the film would not include one of the most controversial scenes from the book.  While the comic features a gang rape scene featuring the super-villains, Mintz-Plasse told us that the scene would not make the cut and seemed pleased by that development.

"The rape scene is not in it. There's a version of it but there's no rape. Thank God."

His admission is interesting considering Millar's earlier comments and his certitude that the rape would make the film. It's possible that the scene was in earlier versions of the script but considering the fact that the movie starts filming in a few weeks, it looks like the studio might be backing away from some of the book's most controversial elements.

Kick-Ass 2 Controversy

Of course, that doesn't mean that the second film- which we already know some details about - will steer completely away from the darker elements in its source material. Plus, we still don't know how the filmmakers will try to one-up all of the violence and scandalous parts of the original. Even without the rape scene, Mintz-Plasse's character is responsible for some monstrous acts and could still stir up plenty of criticism.

However, the fact that the rape scene isn't in there may show the studio believes that some elements of the book are too risqué - even for a movie like Kick-Ass 2.

Filming for Kick-Ass 2 is scheduled to begin in a few weeks and the movie will likely hit theaters sometime in 2013.
