Kevin Smith is looking thinner and healthier than ever as he celebrates achieving his weight loss goals after a near-fatal heart attack earlier this year. The actor/director/podcaster has been focusing on a vegan diet and attempting to lose weight following a near-fatal health scare earlier this year. Smith has been openly documenting his health journey through social media.

In February, Smith suffered a near-fatal heart attack that forced him to cancel an event in favor of a hospital visit. He posted a selfie from his hospital bed, announcing the news and thanking his doctor for his saving life. After Smith returned home a couple days later, he made a commitment to losing 50 pounds, a goal recommended by his doctor.

Now, Smith celebrates reaching that weight loss milestone, and then some. The actor and director has officially lost 51 pounds since February. Smith took to Instagram and proudly announced his new weight of 205 pounds, down from 256. He thanked Penn Jillette and nutrition writer Ray Cronise for helping him to get started. Deep gratitude was also offered to his daughter, Harley Quinn Smith, who set an example with her own vegan diet, along with fans who offered support and encouragement along the way. He also thanked Weight Watchers, while admitting the post was an ad for the company he has become a spokesperson for. Smith has now set his sights on a new goal, to lose another 10 pounds and settle at 195. Check out Smith's Instagram post below:

Smith has been very clear that his success is due to more than just a diet. He insists a complete lifestyle change has helped him to reach his weight loss goals. It's no small detail that Smith gives his daughter so much credit for seeing him through this time. He has always been very dedicated to his family. In fact, it was his parents' struggles with heart health and his father's tragic death that inspired him to avoid a second heart attack and overhaul his health in the first place. This dedication is likely to strengthen his resolve, resulting in continued success.

Following his heart attack, Smith had noted there were many projects that would have been left unfinished. He has since poured his energy into his work. Smith has directed multiple episodes of The CW's popular DC series The Flash and is working on a reboot of his beloved cult characters, Jay and Silent Bob, several members of The Flash cast will be joining on the project.
