Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3's new character Teefs finds himself in a mashup with Kevin Smith's bizarre Tusk. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is currently playing in theaters, with the film bringing back the MCU's lovable team of intergalactic misfits, along with some new characters. Several newcomers, such as Teefs the walrus, help flesh out Rocket's backstory. Smith, who is an avid fan of the MCU, also happens to have directed a disturbing horror comedy about a man being surgically turned into a walrus,Tusk, which makes for perfect mashup material.

Smith took to Twitter to again praise Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 after seeing it a second time in 4DX. However, the director also shared a mashup of Teefs and the Tusk poster, which was made for him by the Marketing Director of 4DX.

The original Tusk poster featured star Justin Long's face above the title, with walrus tusks jutting out from below. The new poster replaces Long with Teefs, bringing one of Marvel's characters into Smith's disturbing film.

Kevin Smith Loves A Good Crossover

With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 taking over the box office, the film is on many minds, with various mashups making their way online. Whether it's images of the Guardians as Star Wars characters or even Muppet Babies, there are plenty to go around. With Smith loving the MCU and having directed a movie that happens to prominently feature a walrus, Tusk became apparent cannon fodder for another piece of mashup art that sees the two projects cross over.

However, Smith has always been a fan of crossovers, having utilized them himself in various forms. While his own View Askewniverse works much like the MCU, featuring several interconnected films with shared characters, he's gone beyond this to cross over his characters with other shows and movies, with Jay and Silent Bob popping up on Degrassi and in Scream 3. Smith even wrote a Batman '66 comic depicting the character crossing over with the Green Hornet. Therefore, Smith's Tusk meeting the world of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is a flattering crossover for the director.

Tusk proved to be a divisive film for Smith, with many put off by the director's foray into bizarre horror. Still, he has talked about making Tusk 2 and several other films, like Mallrats 2. Even with the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 mashup meant as a fun homage, Tusk may live to see another day with a sequel.
