In a new Instagram video, comedian Kevin Hart opens up about his recovery process following a major car accident in September. Hart, now a well-known actor and stand-up comic, got his start in the 2002 film Paper Soldiers. More recently, Hart's star has risen with major roles in films such as Night School with Tiffany Haddish and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. As a voice actor, he played the rabbit Snowball in both The Secret Life of Pets and its sequel.

This fall, Hart was in a near-fatal car accident that left him with serious back injuries that required surgery. Many celebrities, including Hart's Jumanji co-star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, offered their well wishes at the time. A couple of weeks after the accident, Johnson appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show and was upbeat about his friend's recovery. He said at the time, “Everything is good. I spoke with Kevin; I actually refer to him as my son. I connected with him today, and you know what? These things happen in life." In addition to Jumangi, Hart recently played a role in Hobbs & Shaw, which also starred Johnson, furthering the connection between the two.

In a video posted to Instagram, Hart showed footage of his mangled car and his recovery process, including his time in physical therapy. In a voice-over, he details how his perspective has changed since the accident.

Basically what you realize is that you’re not in control. No matter how much you think you’re in control, you’re not in control, and at the end of the day, it can all be over, man. You know, when God talks you got to listen. I swear life is funny because some of the craziest things that happen to you end up being the things that you needed most. In this case, I honestly feel like God basically told me to sit down. You know, when you’re moving too fast and you’re doing too much, sometimes you can’t see the things that you’re meant to see...My appreciation for life is through the roof. I’m thankful for my family, for my friends. I’m thankful for the people that simply ride with me and that have been with me because you stood by me.

Hart has several projects either already filmed or in the works. He'll reunite with Johnson, Karen Gillan, and Jack Black for Jumanji: The Next Level, which comes out this December. Hart will also star in next year's Fatherhood, a comedy with Alfre Woodard. Additionally, he has a Scrooged remake in development at Paramount. That film would have him in the Scrooge role originally played by Bill Murray. Hart is also a producer on that project. On top of that, Hart may also star in a Monopoly movie, reuniting him with Ride Along director Tim Story. The car wreck clearly hasn't slowed Hart down. Even after a life-changing accident that put him in the hospital, Hart is still working hard to find new comedic roles.

Hart's fans will be happy to hear he's not only in good spirits but also looking forward to the new year. The support from his co-stars shows that no one is rushing him to work on his next project but are instead letting him take his time. It also helps to have someone like Johnson in his corner, a friend who can recognize the seriousness of the crash but also make light of it when needed. Kevin Hart fans are eager to see him work on his next project but are probably even happier to hear that he's doing well.
