Warning! Spoilers for X-Men #21 below.

Kevin Feige just met the X-Men and officially became part of the current Marvel Comics canon before the superteam even appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Marvel Studios CCO was one of the many real-life guests invited to the recent Hellfire Gala, as seen in the pages of X-Men. However, considering the X-Men haven't yet made their debut in the MCU, and with no projects starring them having been announced, his inclusion is both hilarious and bizarre.

Kevin Feige is the creative face behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as the current president of Marvel Studios, he has overseen Marvel Comics' film universe for more than a decade. Feige is also in control of Marvel's TV and comic book offerings. However, before becoming the driving force behind the MCU, he was a producer on a handful of Marvel films, including X-Men, X2, and X-Men: The Last Stand. Considering Feige's history with the X-Men, and the fact that the film rights to the characters have now been acquired by Disney, Marvel Studio's parent company, it's somewhat fitting that he's now also made his comic book debut.

Marvel Comics recently debuted a new primary X-Men team roster in X-Men #21 by Jonathan Hickman, Nick Dragotta, Russel Dauterman, Lucas Werneck, Sara Pichelli, Frank Martin, Matthew Wilson, Sunny Gho, and Nolan Woodward. In the same issue, the Hellfire Gala, a ritzy event hosted by Emma Frost, is underway. The gala was hosted to celebrate mutant culture and strengthen the mutants' relationship with those outside Krakoa. The X-Men invited a number of celebrities to the event, including Eminem, Conan O'Brien, Pete Alonso, Megan Rapinoe, and Ira Glass. Also on the guest list? Kevin Feige.

Marvel X-Men Kevin Feige

The conversation between Cyclops and Feige essentially serves as a movie pitch after the Marvel Studios head asks the visored hero about his story. It's safe to assume that the pair didn't talk about the MCU or the X-Men movies Feige was involved with, as they obviously don't exist in this canon. Still, seeing Feige, the man who will guide the X-Men in their next chapter into the MCU, actually interact with Cyclops and other members of the team is a bit wild. It's a small cameo, but a notable one.

Anyone who would have guessed that Kevin Feige would become Marvel Comics canon before the X-Men would become canon in MCU, should probably buy a lottery ticket. Now it's just a matter of time to see if Feige follows Cyclop's pitch and is inspired enough by their meeting to finally bring the X-Men to the MCU. Unexpected, meta cameos like Kevin Feige's in X-Men #21 are always welcome, even if they present some chaotic continuity questions.
