Kevin Feige already has a character he wants to play a specific major actor for his upcoming Star Wars project. After relentlessly building the Marvel Cinematic Universe for more than 10 years, the Marvel Studios president is stepping out of the comic book movie world and into the galaxy far, far away by developing a film in the beloved space saga.
Fresh from having wrapped up The Infinity Saga and rolling out the highest-grossing film of all time in Avengers: Endgame, Feige will try his hand at Star Wars. Specific plot details are still tightly kept under wraps at the moment, and it wouldn't be surprising if it stays that way for a while until all the details are finalized. However, the initial report is revealing that Feige has his eyes set on a major actor potentially playing a character in his latest venture outside of the MCU.
According to the THR article that broke this big Star Wars news (citing a source knowledgeable about the matter), "Feige has told a major actor that there’s a specific role he would like that person to play if and when he makes the movie." Sadly, the report didn't give any clues as to who this actor could be, or for what role they might play in Feige's film.
Feige boarding the Star Wars franchise at this point makes sense, considering that the legendary franchise is going through a major transition. J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will wrap up the Skywalker saga this December, with new narratives focusing on other characters already in the works on both the big and small screen (thanks to the nearing launch of Disney+). Marvel Studios is known for their stellar casting choices for the last 10 years, and while casting director Sarah Halley Finn was primarily in charge of the process, Feige has been also pretty hands-on with picking his actors. With that precedent, fans are excited to learn who this mystery actor is, since it seems like Feige is set on them as early as now.
Regardless of who this actor turns out to be, the fact the Feige already has them in mind for his Star Wars project is indicative of how far he is in terms of developing this film. A self-confessed fan of the space opera, it possible that this dream casting has been on Feige's mind before he was officially awarded a Star Wars project, but considering that he already let that mystery actor know about the film, chances are that its premise is pretty much set. Sadly, it might take a while before the public hears anything concrete about this casting, given the slew of other movies in their slate that were first announced. This allows fans to put their tin foil hats on and come up with their guesses on who this actor might be.
