Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has revealed his two favorite Marvel Cinematic Universe post-credits scenes. The MCU has popularized a lot of things in just 10 years, including post-credits scenes. While the studio isn't the first one to use stingers in their projects, they're undoubtedly the people who made them cool, so much so that other movies, even outside the superhero genre, have started including them as well.

Not everyone is a fan of post-credits scenes, admittedly. In fact, Logan director James Mangold blasted post-credits scenes on two separate occasions earlier this year. That said, no one can deny that mid and post-credits scenes are more popular than ever before now. Since he helped to spearhead the phenomenon, it's only fair that Feige reveal his own personal favorite MCU related post-credits sequences so far.

Chatting with EW about the rise in popularity of post-credits scenes thanks to Marvel films, the MCU architect revealed which one is his favorite among all stingers that the franchise has had over the last 10 years. Feige admitted it's difficult to choose considering he loves them all, but ultimately settled on Samuel L. Jackson's cameo in the first Iron Man, along with the iconic shawarma scene from The Avengers:

"I love them all for so many different reasons. The Nick Fury one obviously because it was the first. Two things that have happened as we have continued making our MCU movies is, I remember Stan Lee cameos, there would be a couple of people in the theater who would clap, and then there would be a couple more, and now every single person in the theater knows Stan and recognizes Stan.

It was the same thing [with credits]: Sometimes there would be three people left in the theater for a tag, and now it’s like, it varies, but it could be three-quarters of a theater staying, or as people start to leave, they’ll go, “Where are you going?” which I find very entertaining. So I would say the Fury one because it was our first. We planted our flag on that. And the shawarma one just because we pulled it off. [Laughs] It felt so perfect."

Avengers post-credit shwarma scene

Feige's choices are perfectly understandable as both post-credits scenes are not only memorable, they also convey an important message on what the then-budding MCU could be. Obviously, Fury's MCU debut was the first groundbreaking step in the franchise's world-building. While general audiences didn't have an inclination to how the eye-patch-wearing character fit in Tony Stark's narrative, comic book readers recognized that this scene could ultimately lead to the Avengers assembling on the big screen. Lo and behold, just four years and four movies later, Earth's Mightiest Heroes joined forces for the first time in a film - which brings use to Feige's second favorite stinger, the shawarma roundtable.

Even without dialogue, the shawarma scene resonated with a lot of fans because of the sheer ridiculousness of seeing everyone's favorite heroes spent after saving the world from an alien invasion. It may not tease anything about sequels, but it's proof of Marvel's years of brilliant character work that people would be entertained just by watching six superheroes sharing a meal together. It's for that same reason that the Mjolnir sequence in Avengers: Age of Ultron is one of the best moments in that film.
