A new trailer premiere at The Game Awards 2022 has revealed that the late Kevin Conroy's Batman will be a part of the upcoming Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, his last portrayal of the character. The game sees Task Force X dealing with mind-controlled versions of the squad of heroes, who have fallen under the influence of Brainiac. Kevin Conroy served as the main voice of Batman for several decades across animation, film, and gaming.

The trailer from Warner Bros. Games for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has shown a new cutscene in which a Conroy-voiced Batman makes an appearance for the first time, acting much differently than the hero typically does. Until now, Batman wasn't one of Suicide Squad: KTJL's confirmed characters, but he's finally been shown off in new footage coming after the Suicide Squad. In a huge revelation, it appears that this brain-controlled version of Batman doesn't have a rule against killing, with Harley Quinn assuring her cohorts upon the bat's arrival they don't have to worry about his deadly nature, only to quickly be proven wrong.

Conroy's Batman Appearing In Suicide Squad: KTJL Is A Meaningful Surprise

After Kevin Conroy's passing earlier this year, fans had assumed they had seen the last of his work as the character, and the fact that this has turned out not to be the case is an incredibly meaningful surprise. Until now, characters like Lex Luthor had been theorized as Suicide Squad's most exciting unannounced character, but the reveal of Batman is arguably an even more exciting revelation. The chance for everyone to see Conroy as Batman one last time is very special, and will no doubt be a highlight of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

The fact that the version of Batman featured in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League seems to have a largely different slant than ever before is big news for the role as well. Although the game takes place in the Arkhamverse after Arkham Knight, Batman will serve as an antagonist this time around, likely under the control of Brainiac, breaking his rule on killing for the first time in the Rocksteady games. This will open up a whole new world of combat against the character, and will likely lead to players seeing a whole new side of Bruce Wayne.

While Batman: Arkham's villain teases for Suicide Squad: KTJL will undoubtedly affect the game in their own right, it's fairly likely no character will be as much of a game-changer as Batman. The fact that it will serve as the beloved Kevin Conroy's last role makes Batman's presence a significant highlight of the game, which is even further compounded by this being a new, more lethal version of the character. More than ever before, Batman: Arkham fans have a lot to look forward to when Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League releases in 2023.
