Citing a desire to further polish the game, Ember Lab has pushed the release of Kena: Bridge of Spirits out of August and into September. Initially unveiled during Sony's June 2020 PS5 showcase, Kena: Bridge of Spirits is in development at animation studio Ember Lab and serves as the group's first game.

The charming action-adventure title follows the titular Kena, a spirit guide equipped with a whole host of magical abilities. She'll also have dozens of collectible Rot companions by her side, all of whom will play an integral part in how Kena interacts with the world around her. These adorable, charcoal-looking creatures certainly represent one main draw for Kena: Bridge of Spirits, though the combat and exploration seem equally interesting. Ember Lab originally intended to let players get their hands on the project during holiday 2020 but pandemic-induced challenges pushed Kena to Q1 2021. Kena boasted an August 2021 release window upon resurfacing after a bout of silence, yet the due date has just been postponed once again.

In a post on the studio's official Twitter page, Ember Lab announced that it's made the "difficult decision" to delay Kena: Bridge of Spirits. The text-laden post cites a need for more polish across all platforms to ensure the team delivers the best experience possible. Instead of its previously announced August due date, then, Kena: Bridge of Spirits will now ship for PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 platforms a month later on September 21. Ember Lab's message appears as follows:

As always, the delay is disappointing, especially given the news' proximity to Kena's previous due date. However, an extra few weeks of polish will likely go a long way in guaranteeing Ember Lab delivers a smooth experience for all players.

September is shaping up into a packed month in terms of video game releases. In addition to Kena: Bridge of Spirits, players can look forward to diving into Aragami 2 - the sequel to indie developer Lince Works' stellar stealth adventure. Sega's Lost Judgement also boasts a September launch date, as does Life is Strange: True Colors. And Nintendo Switch players can expect to get their hands on a couple of eagerly-anticipated ports - Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot and Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom.
