Kelly Marie Tran in The Last Jedi

Kelly Marie Tran has made a name for herself for her portrayal of Rose Tico in the Star Wars franchise and for providing the voice of Raya in the Disney animated film Raya and the Last Dragon. Tran herself had faced backlash due to the numerous amount of hate for her role in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. This combined with the harsh challenges that Amanda Nguyen faced makes Tran a good candidate to help tell her story.
