Just one week after Amelia Hamlin apologized for seemingly blackfishing has Kylie Jenner been called out for the same exact thing. The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star recently posted up a makeup selfie on her Instagram Story. But, her seemingly darker skin tone left some of her fans scratching their heads. Kylie and her sisters have long been accused of cultural appropriation and blackfishing. Her latest pic begs the question among her followers on if she is doing it on purpose or not.
It was just last week when Scott Disick's new 19-year-old girlfriend Amelia Hamlin faced backlash online after she apologized to anyone who felt she trying to take on a more ethnic appearance in her latest Instagram pics. In the photos, she looked shades darker than her normal appearance and was criticized for it. However, according to Amelia, she had never even heard of blackfishing and she had just tanned really well following her Miami trip with Scott and being of Italian descent. Now with Amelia having closer ties to the Kardashian-Jenner clan, she's getting bunched into the family's history of appropriating other ethnicities and cultures.
This time around it's Kylie who being targeted by her followers who feel the beauty mogul tried to take on a more myelinated skin tone in her latest selfie. "Kylie’s insta story... black fishing??," one Redditor titled a thread that shared Kylie's latest selfies. In the photos she stared off to the side while showing off her day's glam. "She looks like a Bratz doll," one person said. "Right, I was gonna say more like bratz doll fishing," another jokingly added. There was one onlooker who felt like Kylie was attempting to look more Armenian like her famous older sisters. "Honestly it feels like arab fishing. She’s just trying to look not white and more Armenian like kim or kourt," the fan shadily claimed.
There were others who expressed the same sentiments about Kylie aiming to look more ethnic in her appearance despite both of her parents being Caucasian. "Yep I’m getting Arab/Armenian vibes from her, she’s ethnic fishing for sure," added another. "She literally looks racially ambiguous here." Others brought their attention to Kylie's infamous pout which has been the topic of discussion since she started getting lip fillers as a teen. "I’m sorry but her lips are ridic," one Redditor said. "I’m so confused as to why they look like that bc i thought she said she got her fillers removed," asked someone else.
While Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian have been accused of cultural appropriation and blackfishing in the past, their Armenian backgrounds by way of their late father Robert Kardashian Sr. has helped to excuse them from some criticism. Like Amelia mentioning her Italian heritage when addressing her latest blackfishing accusations. However, Kylie doesn't have any of those ethnic ties. So her excuse would be a lot different. That's possibly why she opts to just ignore the critiques.
