Following an emotional Season 16 finale of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Kris Jenner officially renewed the family's contracts for more seasons. The continuation of the show will be the 12th year the famous family will appear on the series, and Kris is demanding a lot more money from the network.
Keeping Up with the Kardashians first aired on October 2007 on E! and went on to become one of the network's most successful shows and one of the longest-running series in the country. The brainchild of American Idol host Ryan Seacrest who has been a close friend of the Kardashian/Jenner clan, Seacrest created Keeping Up with the Kardashians to follow the lives of this famous family. While the family is no stranger to drama, this year was maybe the most eventful for them yet. Not only did Kylie, Khloé, and Kim all welcome children within a few months of each other, but there was the cheating scandal heard around the world. At the end of Season 16 of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, fans saw Khloé's emotional breakdown after the father of her daughter, NBA player Tristan Thompson, kissed their family friend (Kylie's best friend), Jordyn Woods. Despite how painful it was for Khloé to go through such a private battle in front of the entire world, the family isn't done with reality TV just yet.
According to RadarOnline, "momager" Kris doesn't plan on ending her family's reality TV reign any time soon. She has already started securing contracts for all five of her daughters - Kim, Khloé, Kourtney, Kendall, and Kylie - ensuring that they'll return to the E! show next year. On top of that, she is asking for double the pay this time around. The Kardashians last signed a contract for the show in 2017 for $150 million before filming Season 13 of the show, and now Kris is demanding $300 million for her family. While the cheating scandal was a painful time for the family personally, it did, however, result in one of the most-streamed episodes in the network's history. The episode garnered nearly 2.3 million total viewers. And since Kris is known to be a fierce businesswoman, there's no doubt she's capitalizing on this moment to secure some new contracts.
A source close to the family told RadarOnline that "Kris is bragging to everyone about the latest ratings and she is sure that it will enable her to get new contracts for all of them." While all of the sisters are busy taking on their own endeavors, with Kylie, Khloé, and Kim balancing their own children and families, it seems these famous women always make time for the show that made them famous. Kris seems confident the show won't be going anywhere based off of the ratings. As of now, it looks like the whole crew is on board and the negotiations are underway. The source said that the family will be on board "for the right amount of money," adding that the negotiations are "up to the network now."
Being the matriarch of the family, Kris has always been a shoulder to cry on, but as a manager, she is always looking for new ways to capitalize on the drama and make money for her famous daughters. It's not surprising she is striking while the iron is hot and ratings are up. Fans will have to wait a few more months to see what other shocking scandals happen to the group in the upcoming seasons. Hopefully, Season 17 of Keeping Up with the Kardashians will give Khloè a break and send the drama someone else's way.
