Fans of the reality star have often accused her of dating men for fame. She was married to her first husband, music producer Damon Thomas, for four years. She has opened up about the alleged abuse she endured in the relationship. However, according to Damon, he was used by the "fame-seeker" to get plastic surgery. "She can’t write or sing or dance, so she does harmful things in order to validate herself in the media," Thomas said about his ex-wife. Two years after her divorce from Thomas, she went on a date with pop star Nick Lachey. The two never made it past the dating phase and it might've been due to Nick's belief that Kim called the paparazzi to take photos of them together. "She left about halfway through and went to the restroom, and then shockingly, there were 25 paparazzi when we left the theater,” Nick claimed while insinuating that Kim was the one who tipped off the photogs.
The following year, her infamous tape with singer Ray J released months before she and her family secured their reality show. At the time, many felt the former BFF to Paris Hilton has only gotten the show as a result of her sex tape. Her next serious romance came after she dated former NBA player Kris Humphries. The former couple had one of the shortest Hollywood marriages at just 72 days. During their messy divorce proceedings, Humphries accused Kim of only marrying him to boost ratings to her reality show. “I would never go through something and do something that wasn’t real or I didn’t believe in, so I can really only speak for myself in terms of that," Humphries told Access Hollywood. His statement appeared to imply that the marriage was real for him, but not for his reality star ex-wife.
