After much speculation, Kim Kardashian of Keeping Up with the Kardashians and Kanye West confirmed the rumors that the end of KimYe was true, but they have left us with many inspirational quotes. The last year hasn’t exactly been the greatest for fans of the Kardashian Jenner clan. First, the family announced that its show was coming to an end. Then, Kim and Kanye announced their divorce.
2020 was really the end of an era for everything Kardashian. But, just because something is over that doesn’t mean we can’t still appreciate the beauty. Over the years, KimYe was one of the couples we loved and cherished - and there’s a good reason for that. They were kind to each other and made great efforts to build a loving family together. As it is better to have loved and lost, let’s take a look back at the sweet nothings this Keeping Up with the Kardashians couple has said about one another.
December 2010
Kim shared studio time with Kanye in Culver City, California. It’s unclear what Kardashian was doing in a music studio, perhaps working on her debut. “He’s a musical genius, so I would be honored to work with Kanye,” Kim said at the time.
April 2012
Kris Humphries and Kim married in August of 2011. Merely 72 days later, they broke up and the divorce was finalized in 2013. In April of 2012, Kanye referenced Kim in his song “Theraflu” which was later renamed to “Cold.” He raps, “I’ll admit, I had fell in love with Kim / ‘Round the same time she had fell in love wit’ him / Well, that’s cool, baby girl, do ya thing / Lucky I ain’t have Jay drop ‘im from the team.”
Shortly after this song was released, Kim and Kanye came out as a couple. Kardashian wrote on Twitter, “#NoChurchInTheWild… Proud girlfriend tweet.”
December 2012
In the middle of a concert in Atlantic City, the rap star revealed that Kardashian was pregnant with their child. “It’s true!! Kanye and I are having a baby. We feel so blessed and lucky and wish that in addition to both our families, his mom and my dad could be here to celebrate this special time with us,” Kim wrote following Kanye’s announcement.
Sometime in 2013
Kanye told Ryan Seacrest, “I just knew I wanted her to be my girl for a long time,” when asked about his new relationship with Kim. “I remember I saw a picture of her and Paris Hilton and I remember telling my boy, ‘Have you seen that girl Kim Kardijon?’”
May 2016
On Father’s Day, Kim wrote on Instagram, “Thank you for always putting our family first and being the best dad to our babies! I couldn’t ask for a better husband and more perfect family. We love you so much!”
August 2016
KimYe made it onto the cover of Harper’s Bazaar. It was a big deal at the time because they were the first biracial couple to appear on the cover. Part of their story in the magazine discussed public nudity and their insecurities. “I love nude selfies,” Kanye said, referring to his wife. “I just love seeing her naked; I love nudity. And I love beautiful shapes. I feel like it’s almost a Renaissance thing, a painting, a modern version of a painting. I think it’s important for Kim to have her figure. To not show it would be like Adele not singing.”
