Kim Kardashian from Keeping Up With the Kardashians is opening up about how negatively impacted she was by cruel body shamers during her first pregnancy. It was while carrying daughter North West during an infamous Met Gala appearance with Kanye West that Kim faced harsh criticism. Kim's gorgeous floral print gown turned her into a laughingstock on the Internet, as some cruel critics made her the subject of insensitive memes. Now, with that experience behind her, Kim is sharing how badly it damaged her self-esteem at the time.

Kim has shared the health-related issues that prevented her from carrying her last two children. She welcomed Chicago West and Psalm West via a surrogate while carrying North and Saint West through full-term pregnancies. However, during her pregnancies, the reality star faced public scrutiny over the extreme changes to her physical appearance. While many praised Kim for effortlessly slaying both pregnancies, there were a number of online trolls who enjoyed making a mockery of the SKIMS founder. Over the years, Kim has admitted to being saddened by the criticism.

She opened up even more during an appearance on Kristen Bell and Monica Padman's podcast We Are Supported By, admitting that she felt down while pregnant with her eldest child, North. "I was not a good pregnant person. I was not a cute pregnant person. I did not like it," Kim, who now has a SKIMS maternity line, confessed. "I hated it. I hated how I felt. I hate how I looked." While it's not the first time Kim has shared her confidence struggles during her pregnancy, it is the first time Kim has elaborated on the exact thoughts she had at the time. Her first pregnancy came after Kim spent years being one of the world's biggest sex symbols, and she wasn't used to such negative remarks about her physical appearance. Her weight loss journey post-delivery took an even bigger toll on the reality star.

Kim admitted that she compared herself to her mom and older sister Kourtney Kardashian after her own post-baby snapback. "I was so used to seeing my mom pregnant, my sister pregnant and everyone looking so cute and having these easy deliveries and life was great and they snapped right back. That wasn't me," she shared. Mother of four kids Kim also noted how "brutalized" she was by the media during her pregnancy with North. "It was really, really crazy. I don't think it would really fly today, but it killed my self-esteem," Kim admitted. She added, "I can't believe that this was acceptable and that this was okay."

Over the years, what was once deemed acceptable has become cancel culture-worthy. Kim admits that the judgment she received make her "sit at home and cry all the time." She explained how the experience led to her being more private on social media to avoid extra criticism. Kim didn't go to the gym because of how self-conscious she felt about her weight. She recently shared that Kanye helped instill confidence in her. Kim took that attitude and ran with it. The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star become more numb to the public scrutiny that comes along with being an international superstar.
