Star of Keeping Up with the Kardashians Kim Kardashian West is reportedly supportive of her husband Kanye West running for President of the United States in 2020, following the rapper's tweet on July 4 stating that he is indeed running for office this year. It's been a busy year for the Kardashian-Jenner clan: from the claims that Kylie Jenner was no longer a billionaire to an on-camera fight between Kim and Kourtney Kardashian. With the coronavirus pandemic, the family has been forced to remotely film the rest of the show's season 18, and people who are close to them have been diagnosed with COVID-19.

As the Black Lives Matter movement gained strength with a series of national protests, the Kardashian-Jenner clan also reacted as they saw fit. Namely, Kourtney Kardashian stated that she had a conversation with her children about white privilege, and Kylie Jenner disclosed the ethnic diversity of the staff she employs at Kylie Cosmetics. Despite not being an active part of the Keeping Up with the Kardashians reality series, Kanye West has also been on the sidelines making moves in his family's name. In June, Kanye donated $2 million to families of the victims from police brutality. However, this happened in the midst of other reports claiming that he and Kim were having a hard time dealing with quarantine.

Now, Us Weekly is reporting that a person who is close to the Kardashian-Clan family is saying that Kim Kardashian has been aware of Kanye West's 2020 Presidential run for many years, and that she is supportive of this decision. That source also claims that Kanye's interests in education and artistic expression are the main motivators that led him to want to help in a more active role in politics. While it is certainly true that Kanye has been talking about a 2020 Presidential run for a few years, the rapper hadn't yet actually talked about it this year. Instead, Kanye West had just struck a deal for a clothing collection with the Gap, and was reportedly planning to add skincare products to his Yeezy Line. Then, on Saturday, July 4, Kanye West tweeted the following:

Over the years, Kim Kardashian has been very supportive of Kanye West in every respect, and even got involved in her husband's years-long feud with Taylor Swift. However, it would be a first for the Kardashian-Jenner family to venture into politics, branching out of the fashion and entertainment industries that have made them so successful. With that said, Kim Kardashian has indeed spent a lot of time educating herself on criminal reform and helping people overturn unfair sentences, and is getting ready to launch a Spotify podcast about the justice system.

Fans of Keeping Up with the Kardashians will have to wait and see what happens next. While there is a chance that Kanye West was not entirely serious, the tweet certainly did not read as a joke, and the rapper has been repeatedly saying that he'd run for President for quite a few years.
