Tristan Thompson's attempt to transfer his paternity lawsuit to the state of Texas has been dismissed amid the Keeping Up With The Kardashians alum's latest scandal. Tristan was hoping to have the paternity case moved to Texas, which is where Maralee Nichols is from. However, it looks like Maralee made the right move by relocating to California. As it stands, the courts believe the lawsuit should remain in the same state where both Tristan and Maralee reside. Now, if Tristan is the father of Maralee's newborn son, he'll have to make higher child support payments than he would if the case was settled in Texas.
All eyes are on Tristan amid confirmation regarding whether or not he fathered a third child with a third baby mama. The NBA player has been under fire in recent weeks after news of a paternity lawsuit against him became public knowledge in the press. Tristan is accused of fathering a child with a personal trainer from Texas who moved to Los Angeles to issue out a lawsuit against him. In obtained documents, Tristan admits to hooking up with Maralee but claims it was only two times on the night of his birthday in Houston. In turn, Maralee says that they hooked up various times before and after his birthday, all while he was reconciled with Khloe Kardashian.
Amid the pending lawsuit, Tristan was hoping to have it transferred to Texas in an attempt to dodge paying the higher child support in California. A judge ruled to dismiss the paternity lawsuit and child support case that Tristan filed in Texas. Maralee initially filed her paternity lawsuit against Tristan in California in June 2021, which is the same month sources confirmed Khloe had split from Tristan. The following month, Tristan filed a case in Texas claiming that Maralee owned property in the state. "Regardless of whether any act of conception occurred in Texas that could have led to the conception of the child, they [allegedly] had a lengthy relationship spanning multiple states," a source told Us Weekly. "The child was born in California, the mother resides there, and so does Tristan."
Given that both parents of the child live in California, "it would make sense the judge would dismiss this given the facts and the California lawsuit filed prior to the Texas one," the insider said. The timing of the suit adds up considering Tristan and Khloe's breakup announcement in June. It was the same month of the KUWTK reunion show where Khloe made it seem like they were still together. Around the same time that their breakup was confirmed, fans thought it was due to Tristan's alleged cheating scandal with Syndey Chase. He was also rumored to have attended a party thrown by rapper Drake where he was seen entering into a private room with three mystery women before returning about 30 minutes later looking disheveled.
Between Tristan's party-boy behavior, as well as his alleged cheating while trying to reconcile with Khloe from his last cheating scandal with Jordyn Woods, Khloe has clearly had enough. She has remained separated from Tristan despite reports and criticism from fans who think she'll take him back eventually. Tristan being accused of fathering another child with another woman while he was supposed to be planning a second pregnancy with Khloe might be the final blow to Khloe. The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star appears to be moving on for good. But with them sharing a daughter, Tristan will always have close ties to Khloe and find ways to win her back over.
