Caitlyn Jenner hasn't been shy about sharing her passion for politics, and the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star is now taking her interest to the next level with an official campaign run for Governor of California. Caitlyn shared the 'compassion' and change she hopes to bring to the state she's lived in for so long.

Despite being native to New York, Caitlyn has lived and thrived in California for over 40 years. After rising to fame as an Olympic gold medalist, Caitlyn made the move to the west where she raised her six children. Now, as an empty nester, Caitlyn has kept herself busy with appearances on television and frequent interviews. But she's always expressed interest in politics and has ruffled feathers in the past due to her strong conservative views. As states around the country prepare for local election season, the I Am Cait star has already put her name out there to become California's next Governor.

On Friday, Caitlyn Jenner went to the press to announce her official campaign run. "I have been a compassionate disrupter throughout my life, from representing the United States and winning a gold medal at the Olympics to helping advance the movement for equality," Caitlyn said in a statement, TMZ reports. "As Californians, we face a now-or-never opportunity to fundamentally fix our state before it’s too late.” Her running isn't official until California voters decide on if the current Gov. Gavin Newsome should be recalled. If they vote yes, the next option will be who voters think should replace him, and if they want it to be the reality star.

All hope isn't lost. In the past, actor Arnold Schwarzenegger was voted in after former California Governor Gray Davis was recalled. As such, the former E! star has already heated up the race by taking shots at Newsome amid statewide criticisms over his work during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. "This isn’t the California we know," Caitlyn said. "This is Gavin Newsom’s California, where he orders us to stay home but goes out to dinner with his lobbyist friends." The strong words show how serious Caitlyn is taking her political aims.

Caitlyn has struggled to gain acceptance from her LGBTQ+ peers over criticisms of the life of privilege she has come from. She has noted the skepticism of her intentions in past interviews but has never separated herself from the Republican party. The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star is seemingly following in the footsteps of her former in-law Kanye West, who held a controversial presidential campaign during of the 2020 election. Despite his loss, Kanye has expressed his desire to run again in 2024.
