There's a little movie that's going to start filming soon (in Kalamazoo, Michigan of all places) called The Dread. It's a direct-to-DVD movie, or maybe it'll turn up on the Sci-Fi channel, but you might want to keep an eye on it.
The story is about a young woman who discovers she's adopted and has a brother she didn't know existed. He's catatonic and happens to be possessed by an evil creature.
The producer for the film stated that:
"The movie is about the battle between the brother and the sister, between good and evil..."
How much "battle" you can get out of someone that's catatonic remains to be seen... ;-)
What's the big deal? Tom Sullivan, who worked on all three Evil Dead movies, is designing the creature that will appear in The Dread. If you're a fan of the Evil Dead trilogy you're probably aware that the gang that made those is still tight and have all stayed friends. It's well known that Sam and Ted Raimi and Bruce Campbell are all still good buddies, and I'm sure Sullivan is part of that little group as well.
So what the heck is my point? How about this quote from the director when asked about who would be appearing in the film:
"There may be a couple of surprises, we have to get them locked up before I can say anything about it."
Could we be in for an appearance from a certain fellow with a very well known (and extremely prominent) chin?
