Keanu Reeves may soon join the MCU, and his background as an actor makes him a good choice to clash with Marvel's famous vampire hunter in Blade. The renewed wave of Reeves' popularity that kicked into gear following his debut as super assassin John Wick in 2014 continues unabated, with the ongoing fan push to cast the actor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe not letting up. For his part, Reeves himself recently acknowledged having a meeting with Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige about a role in the ever-expanding MCU.

At the same time, the Blade character—as played by Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali—is planned to star in his debut MCU film sometime in the next few years, although a firm date for its release has yet to be set. Ali's Blade did make a quick vocal cameo at the end of Eternals, questioning Kit Harrington's Dane Whitman about whether he's ready to wield the Ebony Blade. While Reeves' name has been thrown around as a potential fan-casting for roles such as Ghost Rider and Wolverine, there's two major reasons he'd be great to star opposite Blade.

Firstly, Keanu Reeves has rather famous cinematic experience involving vampires. The Matrix Resurrections star portrayed Dracula's adversary Jonathan Harker in 1992's Bram Stoker's Dracula, one of the most appreciated recent adaptations of Stoker's classic novel. Casting Reeves as the MCU's Dracula would be a truly brilliant bit of meta-casting. Beyond that, Reeves' history in action and martial arts movies means he could be a vampire worthy of battling Blade.

Dracula, traditionally portrayed as the baddest of all vampires and the prototype for the entire genre, has already been the primary villain of a Marvel movie—albeit not within the MCU. Dracula was the villain of 2004's Blade: Trinity, an infamously awful sequel that featured a muscled up "bro" version of the master vampire called Drake, which many still consider a disgrace to the iconic character. Casting Reeves as Dracula opposite Ali's Blade offers an opportunity to try and redeem him as a villain within the Marvel world, and even works on a third level beyond Reeves having played Harker. Reeves' eternally youthful appearance has led to many memes about him being a vampire, and this casting could bring those memes to life, so to speak.

With Reeves' hand-to-hand fighting experience in the Matrix and John Wick franchises and his commitment to fitness, Reeves' Dracula could also take the character out of the shadows, reinventing him from a distant figurehead into a more hands-on villain. Reeves' Dracula could go toe to toe with Ali's Blade in big budget martial arts battles, with wire-work, spectacularly detailed choreography, and lots of swordplay. That last bit is where Reeves' role as a samurai in 47 Ronin would come in handy. In so many ways, Reeves' Dracula could be the perfect match for Ali's Daywalker, and kick off the MCU arm of the Blade franchise with a bang.
