Keanu Reeves is already one of the coolest actors in Hollywood, and in the world of Cyberpunk 2077, he is an actual Rockstar thanks to the work of CD Projekt Red and Swedish band Refused. CD Projekt Red’s newest open-world RPG made headlines when it was announced that the Matrix and John Wick star would be featured in the game’s story, and fans have been speculating on what role his character, Johnny Silverhand, would play.

Based on the post-modern tabletop roleplaying franchise of the same name, Cyberpunk 2077 has been gaining a considerable amount of buzz as more details surface regarding its first-person shooter-style gameplay and deep character customization options, which go as far as letting players alter their characters’ private regions. Earlier today, CD Projekt Red hosted their second Night City Wire live stream event, which provided fans a closer look at the game's various futuristic weaponry and cast of supporting side characters, including a certain celebrity guest.

Today’s Cyberpunk 2077 Night City Wire: Episode 2 stream shed further light on Keanu Reeves’ Johnny Sliverhand, the cybernetic lead singer of the fictional punk rock band Samurai. According to Refused frontman Dennis Lyxzén, who performs Johnny’s songs in Keanu’s stead, the game’s player character will meet Johnny in Night City during the game’s main plotline and become inspired by the rocker’s anti-establishment outlook. Already having built a considerable career for himself in the late 90s and early 2000s with films like Point Break and Speed, Keanu Reeves has seen something of a resurgence in recent years thanks to his stellar performance as the titular assassin in the John Wick series, as well as fun side performances in movies like Toy Story 4. Now Marvel and DC fans are going wild trying to figure out which comic book superhero the Canadian actor could play, even as Keanu himself is set to write and star in his very own series, dubbed BRZRKR.

Playing the role of a cyborg punk rocker in the neon-lit futuristic setting of Cyberpunk 2077 certainly adds to Keanu Reeves' coolness factor, even if he isn't the one performing the music himself. It's also a very fitting role for him, given that his most recent film, the long-awaited Bill & Ted Face The Music, also features him as a musician tasked with saving the world. Not to mention his own real-life experience as the bass player for the 90s rock band Dogstar, prior to the greater fame he would achieve as an actor.
