As the main female character, Katara is definitely a very well-loved character. She’s inspiring, intelligent, strong, and compassionate, and she is always trying to do the right thing and help other people. Because of this, she has many uplifting and inspiring lines that she says throughout the three seasons.

“Love is brightest in the dark.”

One adorable thing about The Last Airbender is the sweet, young relationship between Katara and Aang.

While they start out as friends, they both grow to have crushes and then feelings for one another. During the iconic “Cave of Two Lovers” episode, Katara says this line to Aang that speaks to how love can illuminate even darkness and fear.

“You’re not the only one who draws power from the moon.”

While Katara starts out her journey as a fairly inexperienced and untrained water bender since she’s the only bender left from the Southern Water Tribe, over the three seasons she becomes one of the most impressive and skilled water benders in the world. In the episode with Hama, she learns that she’s stronger than she ever knew.

It’s a powerful moment for Katara, but also a scary one as she comes face to face with her own darkness.

“The strength of your heart makes you who you are.”

While all of the Team Avatar members, as well as other people the Gaang meets along the way, are important in helping Aang on his mission to defeat the Firelord, Katara is always the most supportive.

She says this line to Aang in season one, and she reminds him that his kindness and capacity to love is essential.

“We’re your family now.”

One of the most endearing and important themes from The Last Airbender is that of friendship and family. This is a found family narrative that shows that even people who have lost others they loved can find hope and a new family.

When Aang is grieving the loss of his entire nation and all of his friends and family, Katara comforts him by reminding him that he’s not alone. This is an inspiring and beautiful moment that shows just how intuitive Katara is.

“Get over here, Zuko. Being part of the group also means being part of group hugs.”

Given that Katara is so protective of people she cares about, it’s not surprising that she’s the most resistant to Zuko joining them. However, with time and her field trip with Zuko, she grows to accept him.

When she tells Zuko to join the group hug, it’s an adorable moment that signifies they are finally friends.

“I’ll make sure your destiny ends, right then and there, permanently.”

On the other side of the coin, this is a really intense quote that Katara says to Zuko when he first shows up to help the Gaang. While Katara accepts that she has to allow Zuko around, she warns him that she won’t let him mess with anyone she cares about.

Her threatening to destroy Zuko if he hurts Aang is a moment that shows just how passionate and strong Katar can be.

“But I believe Aang can save the world.”

Perhaps the most iconic quote from the series that Katara ever says is the voiceover monologue that she gives during the show’s intro. She’s the one who talks about Aang returning as the avatar.

While this might be said outside of the actual story, her voice being the narrator at this moment is very effective as she’s the one who always believes in Aang the most. In so many ways, she’s central to allowing Aang to bring balance to the world.

“I will never, ever turn my back on people who need me!”

While Katara can be extremely kind and compassionate, she’s also a fierce protector and fighter. She will defend people at all costs, and this even includes people she doesn’t know very well.

Katara says this line in “The Painted Lady” episode when she resolves to help the people of the struggling Fire Nation village. This shows her strength of character and how much she strives to help anyone in need.

“I know sometimes it hurts more to hope and it hurts more to care.”

Aang and Katara

Perhaps the most inspiring line Katara ever says is this line she offers in comfort to Aang after Appa is kidnapped. Aang is more angry and depressed than she’s ever seen him, and he’s shutting down in response to the pain.

Katara reminds him, and all fans of the show, that as hard as caring can be that it’s worth it in the end.

“You can’t knock me down!”

Pakku battles Katara in The Last Airbender

While the previous quote might be really inspiring, this short but simple one might be even more so. When Master Pakku won’t train Katara because she’s a girl, Katara is rightfully enraged.

She challenges Pakku to a fight where, even though she loses, she proves her skill and strength. Her unwillingness to let others outdated ways of thinking to keep her from her full potential is definitely inspiring.
