Long-time fans of The Kardashians may have noticed that Kim Kardashian’s current boyfriend, Pete Davidson, brings familiar energy to her life, reminiscent of her brief marriage to Kris Humphries. Kris and Pete don’t take life too seriously, and that’s exactly what a media mogul turned billionaire needs. During Kim’s relationship with Kanye West, the couple took their marriage, media endeavors, and fashion campaigns as seriously as humanly possible. While the Kimye era had its highs, the toxic nature of Kim and Kanye’s relationship came to light amid their divorce, and it’s no surprise that Kim is returning to a more playful romantic dynamic.
Many critics felt Kris and Kim’s marriage on Keeping Up With The Kardashians was a total farce as the couple divorced only a few months later. However, Kim attests that she did love Kris, and it was far more than the cameras that compelled her to go through with the marriage despite constant bickering. Before things got tense, however, Kim and Kris’s relationship thrived via Kris’s sarcasm and proclivity for practical jokes.
Kris’s demeanor seemed like it could be a perfect fit with The Kardashians. However, he often found himself butting heads with Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian, who were accustomed to being the residential jokers of the family. While it took the family a while to warm up to Kris, they recognized that he helped Kim loosen up. Kim may have been too much of a diva back in the day to find marital bliss with Kris, but she’s in a new place now. Kim and Pete have been dating since fall 2021 while Kim and Kris were together between 2010 and 2011. Both men have brought Kim out of her comfort zone and into their respective worlds. Both men also have pushed Kim not to take herself or anything so seriously. While Kim grew paralyzed about what to wear without Kanye’s approval at first, with Pete by her side, she’s learning hoodies, Skims, and slides might be more than all right for most occasions. Fans like seeing Kim embrace normal life with Pete just like she did with Kris.
It seemed unlikely that fans would see any friendly reunion between Kris and Kim in their new adult lives after a difficult divorce where Kris felt used for the KUWTK plot. However, now that she’s on the other side of her marriage to Kanye and in such a light and comfortable space with Pete, maybe it’s time Kim reconnects with Kris. While The Kardashians season 1 has ended, for now, it undoubtedly could use a dose of Pete or Kris’s laissez-faire vibe and do away with the ultra-polished aesthetics.
