Kanye is finally responding to Kim Kardashian's filing to become legally single and wants to protect their marital assets from the star of Hulu's upcoming series The Kardashians. According to newly-filed documents, the rapper made a move to prevent single Kim from getting access to any assets they started together. This latest move comes as Kanye continues to profess his love for Kim on social media. But as she continues to date Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson, it looks like Kanye is now finally accepting that their marriage has officially come to an end.

Kim filed to become legally single one day after Kanye performed at a benefit concert and begged for Kim to "run back" to him. His plea came after a series of moves that the rapper and fashion mogul made in an attempt to repair his marriage. Alas, with his requests only coming after Kim started dating Pete, it seems like all of this effort is a little too late. Kim and Pete have grown closer in recent months, to the disappointment of Kanye. In response, Kanye has unleashed his wrath on the couple by name-dropping Kim and Pete in diss tracks and sharing incendiary posts about them on Instagram.

Now, Kanye is finally responding to Kim's December 2021 filing to become legally single and drop "West" from her last name. Kanye's lawyer filed legal docs objecting to Kim's request to become legally single before they work out their custody and property agreements, TMZ reports. The proceedings begin next month, but Kanye's legal team argues that if Kim is granted single status prior to finalizing their divorce, she could re-marry and move some of their marital assets over to her personal accounts. Kanye is apparently accepting of Kim being single but wants to protect the assets that remain as marital property. Kanye's lawyer made three requests in the new filing - one being that if either of them dies, any money that's owed to either party gets reimbursed.

Kanye also wants to prevent Kim from transferring assets out of any trust that they created together as a couple. The Yeezy founder wants Kim to waive their marital privilege pending a final custody decision so that any communications between them can be part of the court record. Kanye also wants to make sure that if Kim remarries, any conversations about custody between her and a new husband could be used in court. Kanye and Kim had already signed a prenup ahead of their 2014 wedding that keeps all of their personal property separate. From the latest filing, Kim's request to become legally single might be granted sometime next month.

That would bring Kim and Kanye closer to finalizing their divorce since she filed in February 2021. As The Kardashians star moves on with her life, Kanye appears to be accepting the fact their marriage is over. While he continues to attack Pete on Instagram, Kanye has claimed that he has "no beef" with Kim. The former couple still has four children to co-parent together, so it's best that they work out their differences. Kim is more experienced than Kanye in this area as the billionaire reality star prepares to finalize her third divorce.
