Apparently, Keeping Up With the Kardashians star Kanye West is still dead set on running for President. Right now, his plan is to beat Joe Biden through write-in votes.

West first announced his presidential run on July 4. Some assumed it was simply a joke or a plan to help Donald Trump win more votes. West proved he was serious when his 2020 Vision campaign filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission. In the coming days, it was announced West would appear on the primary ballot in Oklahoma and the campaign started a petition for West to appear on the ballot in South Carolina. The bizarre campaign rally West held in South Carolina sparked concern among many. Over the next two nights, West began attacking his family members, mostly his wife Kim Kardashian West on Twitter.

Kanye tweeted “I will beat Biden off of write ins #2020VISION” and “I CAN BEAT BIDEN OFF OF WRITE INS #2020VISION” on Saturday. The rapper failed to mention Trump, the other candidate currently in the running. Biden is currently polling the highest among the three presidential candidates. West is currently running as an independent under “The Birthday Party,” a party he founded. If Trump was not the Republican nominee, West would be running as a Republican candidate. Because West missed the deadline to file as an independent in many states, appearing on the ballot as a write-in candidate is West’s only option. The re-ignited campaign aspirations are somewhat surprising as West previously tweeted “Ima focus on the music now,” which many assumed was an indirect way of saying he was dropping out.

West’s failure to mention Trump may indicate some residual support for the current president. West endorsed Trump before because he felt Trump had “dragon energy.” West changed his tune when Trump hid in a bunker following nationwide protests of police brutality. Even if West doesn’t outright oppose Trump, he may want Trump to win a second term over a Biden presidency. This could give some fuel to those concerned a West presidential run would just steal votes from Biden. It is still highly unlikely West has any chance of stealing enough votes from Biden to be a legitimate contender.

It’s highly concerning that West is still adamant about his presidential run. Over the past few days, West's public outburst have proved without a doubt that he is in the middle of a manic bipolar episode. As long as West is still focused on running for president on top of his other music and YEEZY projects, he isn’t able to focus on re-centering his mental health. Hopefully, West’s family and friends are able to convince him to drop his presidential aspirations, for now.
