Marvel Studios makes Kang looks weaker in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania than initially presumed. Poised to be the next Thanos, there's an expectation that Kang the Conqueror will be at least at par with the Titan in terms of strength. As the Avengers' next opponent, Marvel Studios needs to ensure that he's worthy enough reason to re-assemble Earth's Mightiest Heroes after Avengers: Endgame. Between what's known about him from Marvel Comics and Jonathan Majors' performance thus far, Kang seemed intimidating enough to carry a saga. That's until the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania trailer suggested that he may not be as strong as he initially thought to be.

After his variant, He Who Remains, was introduced on Loki, Marvel Studios is officially introducing the Conqueror in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Admittedly, Kang is a major step up from previous villains in the Ant-Man franchise, making the match-up much more interesting. According to director Peyton Reed, there's something interesting about seeing Ant-Man, who tends to be overlooked, fight the Multiverse Saga's big bad. Considering the success of Thanos, there's massive anticipation to learn more about Kang, However, even before his proper debut, new detail suggests that he may not be as tough as he looks to be.

As the next MCU film nears, Marvel Studios is ramping up its marketing efforts for the blockbuster. That includes the release of the Easter egg-filed Ant-Man 3 trailer, which features a sneak peek of Scott Lang and Kang's climactic fate. While it appears that the Conqueror is winning the tussle for the most part, there are clear signs he's struggling and can't fully beat Ant-Man, who is widely thought to be one of the weaker heroes in the MCU. This is surprising considering that Kang is known to be all-powerful in the comics, which was reinforced when He Who Remains didn’t even break a sweat when facing Loki and Sylvie.

For comparison, when Thanos was introduced in Avengers: Infinity War, Marvel Studios effectively established his strength when he ruthlessly and easily killed Loki. This was followed by Thanos' brutal take-down of the Hulk, one of the strongest Avengers in the MCU. In fact, the villain didn't have a difficult time fighting until he was ambushed on Titan and didn't suffer a scratch until he faced Iron Man. The Conqueror seemingly already struggling in a one-on-one with Ant-Man isn't a good look. It makes Kang look weaker, casting doubts about whether he is worthy of being the next Avengers villain.

Beyond Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Kang is set to headline his own film in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. However, this doesn't automatically mean that Team Ant-Man will fail or Ant-Man will tragically die in the threequel, despite Marvel heavily suggesting it. Scott Lang can still defeat the Conqueror, with other Kang variants eventually appearing in the MCU to face off with Earth's Mightiest Heroes instead. However, if Kang is going to lose to Ant-Man, at the very least, it shouldn't be in a slugfest as it makes him look weak. Instead, the Conqueror's defeat should be through an intellectual miss on his part or via Team Ant-Man's collaborative effort
