Warning! Spoilers for Kang the Conqueror #3

It has been revealed how Kang the Conqueror’s variants will destroy the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Kang miniseries is expanding the possibilities of the live action iteration of the time-traveling super villain who first appeared in the Disney+ series, Loki.

As Kang is promised to be a major part of the MCU’s Phase 4, the comics are offering their own ideas for what’s to come on the big screen. After “He Who Remains,” portrayed by Jonathan Majors, showed up in the first season finale of Loki, the multiverse was called into question as chaos began to break out. With the inevitable multiverse-wide war, audiences are preparing to see Kang’s evil variants, who were previously alluded to in the episode. Since fans know the threat he brings to the MCU, it’s no surprise that he similarly dominates in his comic book iteration. The way for his variants to dominate the multiverse of the movies has been laid out in Kang the Conqueror #3, written by Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly with art by Carlos Magno.

The latest issue has shown the chaotic nature of Kang’s time-traveling schemes, as he creates a null space in time in which Doctor Doom can attack. Killing the previous version of himself, Kang repeats the cycle and becomes that previous iteration. Similar to how He Who Remains allowed timelines to split and fracture, leading to a multiverse-wide war, the miniseries has followed the results of Kang altering his own life history. As an unlimited amount of Kang variants are let out into the wild of the multiverse, they each stir up trouble, spreading chaos as if it were a pyramid scheme.

With the magnified presence of Kang throughout human history, he is putting the Marvel Universe at risk. As teased by the monologue delivered by He Who Remains, his many selves take advantage of the multiverse-wide war and eventually eliminate each other. By fighting and killing his variants, they work together to manifest disorder and break reality as the Avengers know it. With so many rogue Kangs, it’s impossible for any hero to stop each one— even Kang himself struggles to get the better of his alternate selves.

However, being that the Fantastic Four makes an appearance in the issue, it would be unfair to not factor in their absence from the current MCU. With Kang’s personal ties to the team, they are the most logical bunch of heroes who could prevent him from demolishing the multiverse. Kang goes onto reveal that he is on the run from the Fantastic Four, as they chase versions of him throughout history. As the revisionist time traveller shakes up the timeline, only he stands in his own way.
