Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’s Kang the Conqueror is the MCU’s next Thanos for the Multiverse Saga, and Marvel could make the time-traveling villain even better with one comic book change. After Loki’s time travel storyline teased a mysterious force behind the TVA, the Loki finale revealed He Who Remains as a Kang variant, thus confirming that Kang would be more than just the Ant-Man 3 villain. With Avengers 5 officially titled Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, it is safe to say that the Multiverse Saga will center on Kang. Though nothing has been revealed about The Kang Dynasty, Kang’s MCU arc will soon begin in Quantumania.

While Loki revealed the MCU’s first Kang variant, it is Quantumania that will introduce the infamous Kang the Conqueror. As such, Ant-Man and Wasp are set to have a personal history with Kang before any of the Avengers. In the comics, although Kang is often an Avengers villain, he has a personal link with the Fantastic Four. Nathaniel Richards, who would later become Kang, was a descendant of Reed Richard’s father from another universe. Kang shared a lot of similarities with Earth-616's Reed, including their intellect. In the MCU, however, it would make more sense for Kang to be a descendant of Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne instead.

Why Marvel Should Make Kang A Scott Lang Descendant

The Ant-Man 3 trailer reveals Kang’s comic book costume, including the blue helmet, in addition to the fact that this variant of Kang has already fought the Avengers. The Quantumania trailer also reveals that Kang is seemingly stuck in the Quantum Real and suggests that Kang’s time travel technology mirrors what Scott Lang, Tony Stark, and Bruce Banner created in Avengers: Endgame using the Pym Particles. Even Kang’s blue helmet resembles Ant-Man’s testing helmet from Endgame, suggesting that Hank Pym’s technology did inspire Kang somehow. Therefore, a lot of the MCU’s Kang story already connects with Scott Lang, Hope van Dyne, and the Ant-Man family.

Kang in Ant-Man Quantumania and Scott Lang

Whereas Kang the Conqueror’s first comic book appearance was in a Fantastic Four book, the MCU’s Kang the Conqueror will begin his arc in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Though a multiversal Reed Richards has already appeared in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the MCU’s Fantastic Four movie will only premiere in 2025 right before Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. As such, revealing that Kang is related to Reed Richards, or at least to a multiversal version of Reed’s father, would not mean much in the MCU. Making Kang a Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne descendant, on the other hand, would further strengthen the connection between Kang and the Ant-Man family.

From The Avengers Battle of New York to Avengers: Infinity War’s Titan fight, the MCU made the rivalry between Tony Stark and Thanos personal. Now, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania could make the same for Scott Lang, Hope van Dyne, and Kang. Ant-Man and Wasp are the MCU heroes that come to mind when Quantum Realm and time travel are brought up, and those are two concepts that are sure to be essential to Kang’s Multiverse Saga story. Therefore, it would make a lot of sense for Kang to be related to Ant-Man and Wasp in the MCU.
