Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania created a new mystery by revealing that Kang can't leave the Quantum Realm by himself. Played by Jonathan Majors, Kang the Conqueror is on a collision course with Paul Rudd's Ant-Man ahead of his highly anticipated showdown with Earth's Mightiest in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. From the looks of things, he'll have to get past Scott Lang and his friends before he can escape the Quantum Realm and wreak havoc on Earth-616.

Based on what was shown in the new Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania trailer, the conflict between Ant-Man and Kang will be at the center of the film. Apparently, what will motivate their feud in the movie is a deal negotiated between the two characters. The terms of it were vague, but it looks like Kang's goal will to be find a way out of the Quantum Realm. Clearly, he sees Ant-Man as his best chance of getting what he wants, which raises some huge questions about the villain's predicament and how things work in the Quantum Realm.

Why Does Kang Need Ant-Man? Can't He Escape The Quantum Realm Himself?

By all indications, Kang and Ant-Man will both be trapped in the Quantum Realm, which is indicative of the two facing the same dilemma. However, it appears that Scott will somehow be in a position to secure Kang's escape. If that's the case, it's possible that Kang attributes Scott's usefulness to his suit. For all the technological advantages Kang possesses as a 31st century time traveler, one tool he may not have at his disposal is Scott's shrinking ability. If this power is the key to Kang getting out of the Quantum Realm, that would make sense of Scott's importance to his plan.

Alternatively, it could be revealed that Scott actually isn't stuck in the Quantum Realm. There may be something there that's stopping Kang specifically from leaving. That would explain why Kang needs someone like Scott. If the solution to his problem lies outside the Quantum Realm, he may need Ant-Man to leave and come back when he's accomplished his task.

What Is Ant-Man Getting For Kang In The Quantum Realm?

In the trailer, Kang can be heard telling Ant-Man, "you will bring me what I need," meaning that the Quantumania villain needs a specific object to complete his plan. Since procuring this particular item is so important, the search for it could wind up taking up a significant portion of the movie. As for what it actually is, it may be an extremely powerful device or weapon hidden somewhere in the Quantum Realm. With it being integral to the plot, it won't be a surprise if it turns out to be an established Marvel Comics artifact, with two candidates for that role being the Ultimate Nullifier and the Zodiac Key.

Or, the object in question may be the part of Kang the Conqueror's suit that allows him to travel in time. After all, if Kang could time travel at will, he most likely wouldn't need Ant-Man to fix his situation. For that reason, Kang may be unable to manipulate the flow of time in the timeframe of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania's story. If it was lost in an unsafe area of the Quantum Realm when he was sent to this place, he may require Ant-Man's help to retrieve it.

Did Loki Already Spoil Kang's Quantum Realm Escape?

He Who Remains smiling at his desk in Loki Season 1

Due to events occurring outside Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, it's not hard to guess at what happens between Ant-Man and Kang at the end of the movie. Kang's future after the movie (as well as comments made in Loki) support the notion that Kang will ultimately get what he wants from Scott. Unless the Kang featured in the next Avengers movie is an entirely different version of the character, there's a good chance Kang escapes from the Quantum Realm, thus setting the stage for his fight with the Avengers. Such a scenario coming to pass feels inevitable at this point, especially given what happened in Loki.

Loki's season finale already predicted Kang's rise. It was said by Who He Remains that if he were to die, his Kang variants would be unleashed upon the multiverse. What that implies is that either He Who Remains contained Kang in the Quantum Realm, or Kang went there himself to hide from the TVA. Presumably, the first step toward Kang's escape in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was taken when He Who Remains was killed by Sylvie in Loki's ending. With the TVA founder off the board for good, Kang will be free to do as he pleases once he beats Ant-Man and leaves the Quantum Realm behind.
