Kadabra is a Psychic-type Pokémon featured in Three Star Raids in Pokémon GO, making it a challenging boss to defeat for lower-level trainers who attempt the battle solo. Kadabra is the evolved form of Abra, another Pokémon that can be found in One Star Raids. Battling, defeating, and catching a Kadabra will allow players to save their Candies for its final evolution into Alakazam, but this is easier said than done. High-level trainers should have no issues defeating Kadabra, but those who lack the strength to take the Pokémon on by themselves will likely need an additional ally or two.

As a Psychic-type Pokémon, Kadabra's weaknesses are against Bug-, Dark-, and Ghost-type Pokémon moves. Furthermore, Kadabra resists Fighting- and Psychic-type attacks, so players are better off leaving their Machamp in Pokémon GO out of the Raid. In addition to the Psychic-type resistance, the kinds of Pokémon that resist Kadabra's attacks are Dark- and Steel-type Pokémon. Kadabra's potentially devastating main moves are Psybeam, Shadow Ball, and Dazzling Gleam, allowing the Pokémon to counter its Ghost- and Dark-type opponents.

Kadabra can be captured with one of two ranges of CP values, depending on whether or not a windy weather boost is in effect. If there is no weather boost, then trainers can capture Kadabra at level 20 with a CP between 1109 and 1176. If the windy weather boost is active, then Kadabra can be captured on level 25 between 1387 and 1471 CP. After 100 Abra Candy has been acquired, trainers can evolve Kadabra into Alakazam to receive one of the best attack Pokémon in Pokémon GO which is a non-Legendary. Similarly, Mega Alakazam has the highest ATK stat of all mega-evolved Pokémon that aren't Legendary as well.

How To Counter Kadabra In A Pokémon Go Raid

Pokémon GO Mega Raids Bring Back Mega Gengar

Since Bug-type Pokémon attacks inflict the most amount of damage and the typing doesn't provide Kadabra with a counter, players should consider using Bug-type Pokémon to beat it in the Three Star Raid. Additionally, high CP Ghost- and Dark-type Pokémon are still excellent options to use, despite the possibility of Kadabra knowing moves like Shadow Ball and Dazzling Gleam. Trainers who can use Mega Gengar and Mega Houndoom should prioritize them as the top counters to Kadabra, and the rest of the Pokémon below are great options to use in the Raid as well.

  • Mega Absol: Snarl and Dark Pulse
  • Mega Gyarados: Bite and Crunch
  • Yveltal: Snarl and Dark Pulse
  • Darkrai: Snarl and Dark Pulse

  • Origin Forme Giratina: Shadow Claw and Shadow Ball
