With the Justice Society coming to Black Adam, fans of the DC Extended Universe will get a chance to learn more about the original team of Earth's superhero protectors. However, this is a movie about Black Adam, and while the Justice Society will be part of it, this likely won't see them in action against any of their iconic villains.

There is no telling if the Justice Society characters could return in a future movie without Black Adam, but if they do, there are plenty of villains they could face off against. These villains are iconic, both for their sometimes dated appearance and agendas, but also for their roles in the various stages of Earth throughout the entire DC multiverse.

Per Degaton

Per Degaton in DC Comics.

Per Degaton was a Justice Society villain who possessed no superhuman powers, but the fact he was such a thorn in the side of the Justice Society showed his true danger. He used tech to time travel, and this included going into the future to gain even more tech and weapons.

What made him so dangerous in his battles with the Justice Society is that he has traveled through time so much that he is very hard to hurt. With several members of the Justice Society unequipped for future weapons, he was always a threat.

Brain Wave

During the Golden Age in DC, one of the Justice Society's greatest villains was a man known as Brain Wave. He was a threat because of his immense intelligence and his psionic talents. He also proved to be dangerous when he joined the Injustice Society, the team of villains that fought Justice Society.

This team was the inspiration for the Legion of Doom in later years. Brain Wave also didn't let death stop him, as he passed his abilities and hatred of the Justice Society on to his son, who remained a thorn in their side.

Psycho-Pirate

Psycho-Pirate has been a Justice Society villain for a very long time. He was around before Crisis on Infinite Earths as a baddie, and then passed on his knowledge of the Medusa Masks that gives him his powers to his successor. However, he became even more powerful later.

Psycho-Pirate worked with the Anti-Monitor during Crisis on Infinite Earths and gained even more powers. He not only could control people's emotions with his mask, but could also bring beings from the old Multiverse into the new one.

Blackbriar Thorn

Many of the Justice Society villains are ancient beings, and Blackbriar Thorn is no different. This villain was once a Druid leader in ancient Britain. He ended up lost to time, but was revived in Gotham City and began a war with the Justice Society.

One thing that remains iconic about this Justice Society villain is that he could turn himself into a tree to hide from his enemies. This was dangerous for the Justice Society because one of their strongest members, Green Lantern, had a weakness in wood. His magic also rivaled that of other JSA members.

Wotan

Wotan in DC Comics.

Wotan has been around since prehistoric times but decided that the best way to help humans was to cure them of their suffering. This caused her to gain powers and use magic to force humans to allow her to cure them. When the Justice Society arrived, Wotan became a man and came in conflict with them.

The main thing that made Wotan an enemy of the JSA was that she and Nabu, the Lord of Order in the Helmet of Fate, clashed about Wotan's use of magic. When Wotan tried to take the Helmet for more power, the Justice Society was there to save the day.

Adolf Hitler

One of the most iconic villains the Justice Society ever faced was Adolf Hitler. In the comics, Green Lantern, Flash, Hawkman, and others set out to help America fight the Nazis in World War II. When they learned Hitler was attempting to create his own supervillains, they went to stop him.

Many of the early Justice Society stories saw them during wartime, battling Nazis and villains who worked for Hitler. The comics even had them dealing directly with President Franklin Roosevelt while trying to stop Hitler from taking over the world.

Mordru

Mordru uses his powers in DC Comics.

With the Justice Society having two of the most powerful magic users in existence on their team, Spectre and Doctor Fate, it made sense that they would end up battling villainous magic users as well. The most powerful of these iconic Justice Society villains was Mordru, a Lord of Chaos.

Mordru was one of Doctor Fate's greatest villains, and for a very long time, he was imprisoned in Doctor Fate's medallion. When he escaped, he became a threat to the Justice Society and the world. No one could really beat him, either, as he even made it to the 31st century to become a villain of the Legion of Superheroes.

Solomon Grundy

Solomon Grundy is mostly known as a Batman villain, although he has battled some of DC's heavyweights as well over his long time on Earth. Grundy was born in 1853 and died when he was 31. He rose from the dead in 1934 via magic and immediately became a Justice Society villain.

Solomon Grundy's first main enemy when he rose from the dead was Alan Scott's Green Lantern, which made him an enemy of the Justice Society when he kept returning. It took the entire team to finally stop him and bury him so deep they felt he would never return, although he clearly did when he encountered Batman many years later.

Black Adam

The only thing that keeps Black Adam from being the Justice Society's most iconic villain is that he also served as a member for a time and remains more known for his rivalry with Shazam! However, he is the most well-known JSA rogue at present thanks to his upcoming movie.

As a warrior who has been around longer than most heroes, Black Adam was a rival of Hawkman long before Shazam! was ever a hero in DC. His biggest battles with the Justice Society came while possessed by Theo Adam, while he worked with them when he remained in control.

Vandal Savage

Vandal Savage is one of the most powerful and long-lasting DC villains and since he is immortal, he has battled heroes from the beginning of time. This includes his wars with the Justice Society. He has lived since the Cro Magnon days and developed wealth and power along the way.

He ended up battling both the Justice Society in their heyday and the Justice League later. Arrowverse fans even got a close-up look at him on Legends of Tomorrow. He may not be the most powerful villain the Justice Society ever faced, but he was the most iconic.
