Man of Steel actor Michael Shannon discusses his support of the Justice League Snyder Cut. The Snyder Cut has been a part of the DC Extended Universe conversation for some time now. This only intensified when director Zack Snyder, who also helmed Man of Steel, began to tease photos and plot points from his version of the film. However, despite the clues, many assumed the Snyder Cut would never see the light of day. Fans were then surprised when Snyder revealed during a Man of Steel watch party Q&A that the Snyder Cut was coming to the new streaming service HBO Max in 2021.

Before and after this announcement, many stars of the DCEU weighed in on the Snyder Cut. Aquaman actor Jason Momoa has been one of the most vocal, sharing his support of the Snyder Cut many times, even joking he'd be fired from Aquaman 2 for it. Others, like Superman actor Henry Cavill, have been less overt. In fact, as recently as December 2019 Cavill maintained he wasn't sure about the existence of the Snyder Cut.  However, that didn't stop him from joining Snyder's announcement Q&A session, signaling a turnaround for the actor.

Now, another Man of Steel star has discussed the Snyder Cut in the wake of the HBO Max reveal. Shannon, who played the villain General Zod in the film, appeared on the podcast Car Con Carne and shared his feelings about Snyder specifically and the release of his cut:

I feel for my friend Zack Snyder. He had a rough time of it, between the struggles with his family and what he went through with Warner Bros. Zack is a sweet, kind, gentle, hard-working, super conscientious human being, and I hope that this release gives him some sense of satisfaction or vindication or whatever because he’s such a good person. [He] deserves better than he’s been dealing with.

Shannon's comments don't comes as much of a surprise, as he's been very vocal about his admiration of Snyder in the past. Just a few months ago, he revealed he was disappointed by Snyder's exit from the DCEU, calling it a shame. In general, Shannon has shown he cares more about Snyder himself than the actual cut of Justice League. His comment about hoping the release of the Snyder Cut gives the director some satisfaction sets him apart from what other DCEU stars have said in the past.

It seems likely more DC actors will discuss the release of the Snyder Cut as 2021 approaches, especially those actually in Justice League. In fact, stars like Gal Gadot, who will begin promoting Wonder Woman 1984 soon, will probably be asked about the Snyder Cut often in interviews. HBO Max will also hype the movie in order to gain subscribers, which will mean even more actors discussing their feelings about the Justice League Snyder Cut.
