Man of Steel star Michael Shannon is the latest celebrity to weigh in on Zack Snyder's DCEU exit during Justice League. The director kicked off the movie series with 2013's Man of Steel, before returning for both Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League. Snyder's films were met with mixed reviews, however played a key role in establishing the DCEU. His exit from Justice League following a family tragedy was highly-publicized. Joss Whedon was brought in to effectively finish the film, leading to reshoots that drastically changed Snyder's original story. As a result, the famed Snyder Cut came into the conversation, a version of the film Snyder himself didn't admit existed until long after Justice League's release.

In the years since the movie came out, many DCEU stars have weighed in on the Snyder Cut. Aquaman actor Jason Momoa has claimed to have seen it, even joking last year Warner Bros. might fire him for his comments. Ben Affleck has also been supportive, even promising Snyder to help with the Cut's release. However, others, like Jesse Eisenberg (Lex Luthor), have been less enthusiastic. He recently said he wasn't "aware of a Snyder Cut," but also that he was "sure it would be great.Superman actor Henry Cavill hasn't spoken up about it much either, only saying he hasn't seen it and doesn't know if it exists.

Now, another actor has joined in, expressing his thoughts on Snyder's DCEU exit. Speaking with JoBlo, Michael Shannon, who played General Zod in Man of Steel, shared his opinion on it. Shannon spoke highly of the director, saying, "I love working with Zack Snyder and I think it's very sad - he's been through a lot of hardship recently - I don't know what happened with that whole DC thing." Shannon continued on,  "I think it's a shame. I mean, his vision for Man of Steel I thought was incredible. I don't know how that all went off the rails, but I think it's a shame."

Zack Snyder 5 Movie Plan Justice League 3

Over two years after Justice League's release, it's unknown if DCEU fans will ever see the Snyder Cut. Snyder has kept them interested in the last year or so especially by sharing photos of cut scenes on social media. They paint a picture of a drastically different story than the one fans saw in Justice League, especially for characters like Darkseid and Cyborg. Though some insiders have said a release of the Snyder Cut is unlikely, Snyder himself has told fans not to lose hope. Many have floated the idea of releasing Snyder's version of Justice League on Warner Bros.' new streaming service HBO Max, but there are no plans to do so at this time.

Shannon's comments are interesting because they don't directly reference the Snyder Cut, but do show his loyalty to Snyder. As the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut movement continues on, every DCEU star helps, especially if showing their support for Snyder. The director hasn't given up yet on one day releasing his version of Justice League, which means fans shouldn't either.
