A new Zack Snyder's Justice League trailer shows the titular heroes dying in a spoiler-y clip. After years of waiting, the highly anticipated Snyder Cut is just a day out from its release. Snyder and HBO Max have been steadily teasing the upcoming four-hour cut and all the surprises the DCEU architect has in store. Early reactions to the film were highly positive, praising the film as a more cohesive version of the 2017 film.

Critic's reviews for Snyder's Justice League also skewed positive but made it clear that the film is one for longtime fans. The film is a passion project for Snyder after having departed the original movie during post-production in 2017. Snyder has repurposed hours of unused footage and, with a $70 million budget, crafted a new VFX for the film. The director also brought back a slew of actors for reshoots and pick-up shots, including Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Ray Fisher, Amber Heard, Harry Lennix, and, in the biggest surprise of all, Jared Leto as Joker.

A new trailer (via Willyan Wagner on Youtube) gives a glimpse at the returned heroes, but things aren't looking good for them. In the clip, various heroes can be seen dead or dying. Aquaman is shown pierced by his Trident, and Wonder Woman is shown being burned in a pyre as Connie Nielsen's Hippolyta looks on. Superman can also be seen holding the body of Cyborg as Darkseid approaches him. The trailer is narrated by Leto's Joker, presumably talking to Batman about the team's casualties. The clip, titled "End of Everything," sees the Justice League in dire straits, but fans shouldn't be too worried. The clip itself and the heroes' deaths seem to be a part of some vision or dream sequence wherein Steppenwolf and Darkseid have succeeded in invading earth and eliminating several of the characters. It will likely tie into the Knightmare Sequence where Batman and Joker finally meet onscreen as it is known that at some point before this moment, the heroes have succumbed to the invasion with only a few of them left.

This will all be explained when Zack Snyder's Justice League hits HBO Max on Thursday. Since Snyder will not continue with the DCEU, the director revealed his plans for Justice League 2which involve a fight to the death for many of the heroes. Their deaths play into Snyder's darker approach to the DC heroes and the stakes involved in Darkseid and Steppenwolf's attack on earth. Luckily, as fans know, the heroes made it out alive at the end of the original Justice League, so it's safe to say that they might do the same in Snyder's version.
