Warning! Spoilers ahead for Justice League #64 and #65!

In upcoming issues of Justice League, the League will face a new cosmic threat that could be the biggest challenge they've ever encountered. Over the years, the League has battled the biggest and most dangerous threats from all over the multiverse. Most recently, the Justice League has been facing off against Brutus, a new cosmic villain from Naomi's homeworld. His pure strength has proven to be a challenge for the likes of Superman, highlighting his extreme power. However, in the latest issue, Brutus is swiftly defeated by Hippolyta with the help of the Flash.

This shocking turn of events leads to an even bigger villain, Zumbado, being introduced. And as that storyline draws to a close, it's clear he will be defeated at some point over the next few issues. But the Justice League will get no rest as it looks like they may be in for a surprise as their next villain looks to be all-powerful. The team has always been a place where the greatest superheroes have united. But with a powerful team comes challenging threats, and that is what their new cosmic villain Synmar Utopica is.

In Justice League #65 by Brian Michael Bendis, Steve Pughand Ivan Plascencia, the Justice League head to space. They are out on the lookout for the villain known as Synmar Utopica, who was first introduced in Superman #25 in 2020. Importantly, in the previous issue, the League are introduced to a new team, the United. They are an all-star cosmic version of the Justice League, representing the United Planets. They come to Earth's Justice League for assistance as they struggle to deal with Synmar's devasting power. Check out the cover art below:

The identity of this new threat is supposedly unknown to the heroes, but the solicitation for Justice League #66 confirms it is Synmar Utopica. According to DC, the United are led to Superman as somehow their new villain and the Justice League's leader are linked. Well, as avid comic readers will remember, Synmar Utopica hails from a neighboring planet to Krypton, conveniently named Synmar too. Synmar Utopica is a brutal villain who Superman has previously struggled to beat off-world, on Synmar. Whether they will battle on Synmar or not, being away from the sun's yellow radiation won't be ideal for the Man of Steel as he attempts to take him down. Additionally, it seems as soon as his name is mentioned, Superman will lead the League into outer space to defeat Synmar Utopica. While the rest of the League venture into outer space, Black Canary remains behind as Checkmate breaks into the Hall of Justice. Setting off their journey with the Earth-bound heroes of the Justice League.

In the end, this "dangerous new criminal" is only the next threat for the Justice League. As teased by Infinite Frontier writer Joshua Williamson, DC Comics is preparing all of its heroes and their respective books for a Crisis-level event. This event will exceed whatever happens in the new Infinite Frontier miniseries, and probably this villain too. However, until that day arrives, Superman and his team will have their work cut out for them. Find out if they will be able to put a stop to Synmar Utopica on July 20 when Justice League #65 releases in comic book shops and on digital platforms.
